Topic: Getting myself a UPS for my Wii U

So the time comes for me to get the Wii U. But since power cuts happen at some point in my place, I want to avoid bricking so I'm getting a UPS that does the job. Thing is, I need to know a few things such as.

  • Should I connect the TV with the UPS as well as for the Wii U?
  • Do I need a specific UPS to connect to my Wii U?
  • Is it worth having UPS for safety measures?

I want to download specific games on the Wii U and seeing that I have to update it frequently like the 3DS, I'm more paranoid about that bricking part so that alone tempts me to get the UPS.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

1) No, connecting the TV is not necessary, since all it does is display a picture. You can, of course, but it will drain the battery faster.

2) No, they should all work.

3) If power cuts are frequent, then it would be worth it.

How often do power outages happen at your place? Somehow I feel you are being over paranoid as usual.

@Tasuki: They don't happen often, but when it does occur, I get scared because that bricking can potentially ruin my console.

Just to be safe, I would plug the Wii U directly into a solar panel so you won't have to worry at all. Then again, the sun could burn out....hmmmm....probably better off just not buying a Wii U and avoiding the problem completely.

But then you have the problem of not having a Wii U

I have a UPS and it saved me just the other night when the lights flickered off for a moment while I was playing Splatoon online. Have my Internet modem/router hooked up to it, which is important because you don't want to get stuck in the middle of a download and get bricked. I don't bother with the monitor as usually the GamePad is sufficient, and worst case you can plug the monitor in if you actually need it to save your progress in the game before shutting it down for a long power outage.

I originally got the UPS for my Wii because I would get pretty much daily 1-second power outages that would screw up my Wii and force me to unplug the AC adapter for a minute each time before it would work again. I don't get the power outages so much anymore, but I never had the problem of needing to unplug my Wii AC adapter again, so I guess it protects better from surges than just the power bar with so-called surge protection I had been using previously, and it's still saved me at least a few times a year when I would have otherwise lost my game progress without it. Definitely worth it.
