Topic: Cant play online on my 3ds Help plz !

So hi guys. A few weeks ago, I got a new router, and since then, everytime i try to play kid icarus, or mh4 demo online, I cant connect, and a message appears saying "cant connect, try again later " or something like that. the code of the error is 006-0612. I can use the e shop and the internet browser, but i cant play online. If someone could help me , it would be really nice. I searched and searched, buy everything I found was kinda complicated, and I didnt understand it. If you could, please help me , telling me every step i should do. Btw my router is a Thomson Tg784n

Have you tried using Nintendo's site? It has an article on that error code, and it suggests manually entering the DNS information.

You ever get this resolved? What information did you put into the 3DS manually?

Since this error started happening, I haven't been able to fix it
I changed my 3ds's DNS to 8.8.8.8(primary) and 8.8.4.4(secondary)
I'm getting annoyed cuz I want to play mh4 online !

I had the same problem with my old router. Nothing could fix it and in the end i just replaced the router and got lucky because then it worked straight oiut of the box.

I think I might know what the problem is, but first, I need to provide you with a little background knowledge...

When your computer or 3DS goes out on the internet to communicate with a server, it has to use a specific port number to communicate on.

These port numbers are kind've like a channel on a TV or radio station, whereas you can use parental controls to block certain channels or ratings, your router has a built in firewall that may be blocking these ports you need to play online with, which would explain why you can go on the eshop and browse the web, because they use different ports (regular web browsing uses port 80 in particular). In order for this to work, you will need to adjust the firewall on your router to allow these specific ports through.

I looked up the manual for your router online, and it looks like you should have some control over the firewall. Unfortunately, Nintendo has no publicly available documentation on what port numbers the 3DS uses, but you may want to try adding the ports mentioned here. These are for the Nintendo DS, but they may be the same for the 3DS:

TCP:
Allow traffic to all destinations on ports: 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, and 443
UDP:
Allow all traffic to all destinations. (Necessary for peer-to-peer connections and game play). The Network Test tool can be used from a computer behind your firewall to test if outbound UDP is allowed.

So I tried to open those ports, but my router wouldn't let me open all UDP ports, so I can't test that theory
I tried to create the room in mh4 and I played with my friend.
After that , I tried to join a room and It worked
I guess it fixed itself
I'll try to play another game online and I'll see if it also worked for that game

Yup. I can also play kid Icarus online.
I guess it magically fixed itself
