Topic: Can Wii Mini play Wii U games?

We have a Wii Mini. My son got the 2.0 infinity starter pack for Wii U. It does not appear that Disney/Infinity made a version of this specifically for the Wii Mini.

Can we play the 2.0 Infinity pack on our Wii Mini?

No. The Wii Mini will only play Wii games. Wii U games are for a completely different system.

The fact you have to ask is a pretty good indication of why the Wii U was a terrible name.

I shall insert the obligatory "Super NES was just as bad" comment

As a mother as this is for an obvious child; if you don't have something nice to say or help out; don't say anything at all.

For all it's worth, the Wii U can also play Wii game even if you can't do the opposite.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

It won't work for your Wii Mini, but you should be able to take it back and switch it out with the Wii one.
The Wii Mini is just a cheaper version of the Wii so it can only play games that are made specifically for the Wii.

I'm sorry if that came off as offensive, I was merely makng fun of Nintendo's odd naming decisions.

I'm not disputing the claims by the people above (Wii U software doesn't work with Wii or Wii Mini) and I'm going a bit off-topic... but was one of these NFC-figurine games (Disney Infinity or Skylanders) actually released for Wii/Wii U so that the disc contained the Wii version and the Wii U version was given as an eShop code?

Skylanders did that.

Sadly the answer is no you are just going to have to take it back and get the Wii version.

At least Nintendo didn't go backwards like Microsoft did with the Xbox One.
