Are the other programs like Microsoft Security Essentials that I could download/know about? MSE won't install/uninstall for me for whatever reason.

EDIT: Feel free to use this for any virus problems you might have since my problem has been pretty much taken care of (for now anyway, ), so i'll just leave this thread open.

I have Norton, though you have to pay for that. Anyways, if you're willing to pay, it works great.

The problem with Norton and McAfee I have found is that along with the Antivirus they also load your PC up with a bunch of junk you dont need. Still having Norton is better than no antivirus but the thing is AVG is just as good as Norton and its free so why pay for something that you can get for free.

Just make sure you download the free version cause they also have a premium edition.

Are you absolutely sure that this will work? Because i've dealt with enough trouble tonight with attempting to sort everything out with MSE and don't want a program like Norton constantly scanning things when I don't want it to scan and pestering me to pay just for it to fix it. It's not like that at all, is it? Does it get the job done efficiently like MSE does?

Nope its not like that I have been using it for 4 years now and have used it on my desktop computer my laptop and my moms computer and never had no problems. As long as you download the AVG free edition you will be good to go. The only time I have had it pop up and ask me if I want to buy the premium edition is when I update it yearly and than I just click on no thanks and thats it.

Does it get it done efficiently like Microsoft Security Essentals does?

@Electricmastro: Truthfully I cannot say cause I never used MSE. Ever since I have used AVG I havent need nor wanted another Anti Virus program. I have talked to people who have used both and they say that they are on equal terms one isnt better than the other. I am just weary of things that have Microsoft in the name.

Also while we are on the subject along with an Antivirus you would also want to get an antimalware program since Antiviruses dont protect you against malware. If you are looking for one I suggest Malware bytes (you can google Malware Bytes) its free as well.

I just use Security Essentials and Windows Malware for my anti-virus needs. However, I loved my experience with the newer versions of Norton Antivirus as a trial that came with my PC. It almost seemed like it just worked, and it seemed smart too :3
