I have been playing my 3DS for the past few hours now, and everything has been working just fine. However, for some reason, for the past 30 minutes the System settings and Pilotwings Resort won't load up. The System Settings just sit at a blank black screen while Pilotwings sits at the 3DS logo, the is no error message on either of them. I even let it sit at the blank black screen for 20 minutes and nothing has happened.Everything else on the system works fine and Pilotwings was working an hour ago. It isn't a problem with the card slot either because Street Fighter works fine, too. I'm going to call Nintendo's support line now, but I'm wondering if anything similar has happened to any one else.
I can't believe that actually worked...Not sure how it worked for the system settings either... But now I have another problem, I can't update the thing.

The update problem might just be down/busy servers. Probably nothing to worry about. As long as I'm here I might as well toss in my own problem... While clicking around the various programs on the menu, I touched the Face Raiders icon. This wasn't an "activation" touch, just a "swith to showing me this icon" touch. in the middle of switching from the last icon, everything froze and even the power button wasn't listening to me for a few minutes. Finally I got the system to shut down and now it is ok. Just thought I'd put it out there :3 Also, has anyone noticed the system is kind of slow-ish sometimes? like in the music player, sometimes the system will just sit there doing nothing for like 15 seconds between songs. It doesn't happen often but still.....Oh well! I'm still totally in love with this thing!
And here we go again...Man, my 3DS is just as reliable as my Ipod Touch when it comes to not crashing...I think the Pilotwings to System Settings combo kills it.

At least you can actually rely on good customer service for getting you 3DS fixed if need be.....actually, i;ve never dealt with Apple customer service but I assume it is as bad as everything else related to them >:3
And it started to randomly work again and I can update it. Now how long does it take to update because it has been going at it for a good 5 minutes now with no loading progress shown.

just leave it alone — mine took forever to update too, i went and loaded the dishwasher while it did its thing, lol. also, mine error'd out the first time i tried to update it, so don't worry if that happens, just try it again.

Okay...Now its been going for 20 minutes without any progress. At this rate it won't be done before I go to bed for sure. If I leave it on the charger all night will it stop charging when the battery is full and then recharge again when it is low on battery? Also, it does seem to be taking unusually long so should I just restart the system and try again?

Don't restart it in the middle of an update unless you absolutely have to. There have been a couple slow Wii updates where people have hat their console's bricked if they restarted in the middle of it. Just plug in and let it go.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
If you close it the 3DS goes into sleep mode. I'd leave it open if I were you since sleep mode's practically turning off the 3DS. My update took about 10-15 minutes. I just left it on the whole time.
According to my Activity Log I have been on the System Settings 78 times and for 21/2 hours trying to update the 3DS. It is really aggravating me. My connection is really good and has full bars on every internet compatible device in my house...(I think I should change this thread name to "ballkirby1's 3DS troubles") EDIT: And it is updating but taking forever. I don't have any firewalls on my router and it is a standard linksys, so I have no idea what's going on.
I really don't like this thing's internet connection. I was able to hook my self up to the internet and download the update.(I had to put it about 12 inches away from the router in order for it to work) Right, now on the home menu it says I have full connectivity, but on my friend's list it says I'm offline and I can't even access Street Fighter online and sometimes when I turn off the wirless I get that darn Error message. This thing is really screwed up...I've spent about 5 hours playing it and about 10 trying to get it to work...I don't like it.

The update allowed me to play Pilotwings Resort again fine and the frozen black screen appears only about 1/3 of the time it did, but, man, I really don't feel like sending in something I just bought for repairs and not getting it back for a month...

where in that article does it say to send it in? so far as i can see, all it says is to make sure you've got the latest update downloaded.
