Hi everyone. I need some help with my 3ds.

A while ago now my partner manged to spill vimto all over my 3ds. Ever since then the A and B buttons do not function properly, sometimes they will work perfectly without any problems and they feel 'clicky'. After prolonged use however they begin to deteriate. Becoming less and less responsive untill they stop working completely. Sometimes they dont work when i switch the 3ds on then gradually begin to work after time.

I read on other forums that there maybe residue in or underneath the buttons and contacts. So i decided to take the 3ds apart in the hope id be able to clear this gunk away.
When i dissasembled the 3ds i found the buttons were spotless and that there was no sticky residue to be seen on the contacts.

There was however residue on the rear side of the motherboard directly behind were the contacts sit.
Is it this causing the problem? If so how do i clean it of without causing more damage?

If this isnt the problem what could be? Im on the verge of just buying a new 3ds, but i really want to fix this one if its possible.

Thanks
zac

Keep in mind that if you brick your 3DS, there's like a 99% chance that Nintendo will not repair or replace it. Your best bet would be to call them and send it in for repairs if that's what they advise. It'll cost you, but probably less than a new 3DS.

I had this problem once and it lasted for about a year before the buttons on mine (A Button mostly)magically started working again. I still think that 3DS is a bit woozy from all the forcefully-trying-to-get-it-to-work acts I subjected it to...

God first.
