I guess I should restate it's not the "BEST" game ever, but it is the best Zelda game ever.

At the time of the games release, it is considered the greatest game of all time, no other game had gotten I higher overall rating by all the game critics.

At the time the games graphics where ground breaking and very few glitches, witch at the time was rare. No other game had a open world like that before and all these extra missions with 2D.

If this game is so good, why didn't it come to the VC?

I think that it's considered the greatest game of all time due to the fact that it's got higher critical acclaim than any other game (well, actually, I read somewhere that Mario Galaxy recently beat it when a review came in like last year, but I could be wrong). Opinions (like yours) don't matter in their singularity. Gee, you say that Paper Mario is the best game ever? Well, I say that it's Superman 64. So? Does that make it true? No. But a compilation of hundreds upon hundreds of reviews from people review games for a living seems a lot more ah, noteworthy than a single opinion, yes?

The 3dization of OOT was just awesome on 3DS. My Son went through that first. Then I went through it and we both agreed it was a phenominal Tribute to the Zelda Game from the N64. It will always be One of me and my sons favorites as it was the very first game we went through and beat together back in the old N64 days. As I like OOT best my Son Likes Skyward Sword the best. I hope another Zelda will make it to Wii-U soon so me and my son can Carry on that Tradition of playing and beating them together. My favorite game of all time though would be Bomberman 94 from the PCEngine. It received alot of play in our house and always had a multiplayer crowd sitting around the TV to play it. We still play it for family get togethers

Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

OOT is the best game ever.

It is frozen in time as a game that evolved not only Zelda but open-world exploration, puzzle-solving and gaming soundtracks. It leaped forward and executed every moment in the game almost perfectly. The characters, the worlds and puzzles are absolutely unforgettable for anyone who played it then because we hadn't seen anything like that before. Simply, it surpassed many gamer's visions of what was possible and took us on a sprawling adventure that captivated our imaginations like nothing else.

I don't expect it can or even should remain everyone's favorite game for eternity. Gaming is directly influenced by its graphical presentation, its technical capabilities and capacity to resonate with a modern audience that is always changing. However, there's an art to game-making that really shined back then and something magical was poured into that game I've yet to see since. Okay, except maybe Grim Fandango. That was also an amazing game on a completely different platform. But that's just me.

What I hope is that other people will find their best game of all time that opens doors they never expected - that takes them to places they've never seen or imagined. It's the feeling - call it nostalgia, call it just a fond memory, I can't explain it fully - that Ocarina of Time exists and will forever have a special place in our hearts.

For me, the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is one of the best games ever made (and did live up to the hype), but it's not the best one. There is no best one in my opinion, just a lot of games which are equally fantastic and arguably define the medium in different ways.

I liked this game when I was a kid, but I feel it's aged poorly. And to sum up what some others said: Best at the time =/= best of all time. The OoT formula has been improved upon by many over the years, and I feel that whatever bade it new at the time just makes it seem old now. It still has some charm in its level design and excution of its story (NOT the story itself), and the controls are generally pretty competant (which is more than I can say for a lot of games of its day), but otherwise I find it extremely boring to go back to. I'd much rather play Beyond Good & Evil, Mega Man Legends, Darksiders, Okami, and even a lot of other Zelda games than go back to Ocarina of Time, and this is coming from someone who still plays a lot of retro games.

umm am i the only one that thinks minish cap are the best zelda game ever.

I wouldn't say it's the best of all time.. but it's definitely in the top three of my favorite Zelda games with Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword. Hard to choose a favorite from the 3. As far as any game being the best of all time.. that's an impossible choice. There's always going to be a game that makes you feel differently in a certain aspect. Some of the front runners for best games of all time for me would be Final Fantasy Tactics and Legend of Mana.. Bomberman 64 was also one of my favorite games ever.

There's just too much to factor in when trying to decide on what the best game ever is and OoT wouldn't even be in my top 25. As OP stated.. it feels kind of bland. I liked it at the time of it's release, but after I playing Majora's Mask, there was no comparing. I even rebought OoT for 3DS and found myself pretty disappointed after beating it. Kind of wish I just saved my money, even though the nostalgia trip was nice.

I liked Majora's Mask much better, i can nearly remember every moment of that game. OOT, not so much. I don't know why so many people love it so much, i tought Majora was better in every way.

IGOR!
