My previous comment made me wonder - what would Nintendo's stance be on third party games like Hyrule Warriors or Fantasy Life? Would they risk the content claim?

To me, the list still comes across as very arbitrary. It's like Nintendo doesn't even understand. "Wii Street U"? "Photos With Animal Crossing"?

I have no informed opinion either way regarding streamers, but I will say that this is just one more case of Nintendo being completely out of touch with its audience and the modern world. Between this and their whole policy of trying to sue the pants off everyone to "fight" piracy, they just don't understand the digital world at all.

While Nintendo should've just gone with the free advertisement,I still don't like that some YTers are complaining about Nintendo doing this BECAUSE of money, which I think should never be the MAIN priority of anyone who makes YouTube videos(unless they are some kind of business that has a YouTube channel and wants to promote their product).Sure, smaller YouTube content makers may be affected by this, but they most likely wouldn't be making much money anyway with how many channels there are and how hard it is to become well-known and popular.I don't know.It just kind of bothers me since I prefer people to make content out of passion or the enjoyment of other people instead of being so money-hungry.

I really don't want to copy and paste my statement again...but whatevs I really care about this issue so here comes my rant from earlier:

No other company is as aggressive in marking content, Nintendo has marked reviews and parodies on older videos, Nintendo will not allow you to use videos if you use OBJECTIONABLE behavior (super abstract), it takes 2 -3 DAYS to get your video approved by Nintendo when others will just do a work around and get up videos of new games on the day of its release if they work hard enough, their list is laughable, and their take on it makes it sound like you can only post positive Nintendo things which just seems down right horrible.

Nintendo is not a white knight on this issue, they are farthest from being a hero of any sort. Do not be an apologist on this issue, call them out on their BS so that they can improve the system and you don't just live in lala land where everything is okay. Nintendo has the right to own all their content, sure. But I'm not throwing them a freaking parade because they put this up when everyone else provides something much better by comparison...approval. Nintendo had some good ideas in here and I wish that it had been something better but as it stands it fall 100 miles short and needs to be reworked in its beta stages. Call them out on it, don't just sit there and pretend its okay and if you don't really understand how YouTube works than stay out of the issue, its the equivalent of when the government started to get involved in the internet while sticking to their unknowledgeable ways of how its works and the people on it work. It frustrates me to no end, I want more LPers, parody makers, reviewers to do stuff with Nintendo but they keep screwing it up and when they finally get close to doing something right with it they screw it up again.

Look at EVO 2013, they are going to listen to what the fans have to say.
I don't know when but its gonna happen.
At least people like Nintendomination and Pksparkxx Dathottness haven't (and hopefully won't) get messed up because of this.

If I ever do Let's Plays on YouTube, it won't be for Nintendo games. Worrying about fees and such just doesn't seem like it'd be worth it.

Though that's fair, I personally still would. Mainly because all I'd do is play it and narrate it anyway so it's not that different from what I normally do. The fees wouldn't worry me because I'd still make even just 20% profit from doing almost nothing different.

Wow... So PewDiePie simply stated that because Nintendo is taking money, he simply will leave Nintendo titles at the bottom of the barrel. Yet claims that he does not want a world where those that pay the most get reviewed (better or more often, whatever). I don't understand. At 4 million dollars a year, he has no reason to open his mouth. At all. He will not go broke. Don't feel for him. He is not a starving student, much less one of us. His only concern is that people subscribe, that's all. Please don't come to his defense, unless he's been to your house for dinner. As for his comment on the article yesterday? He's full of carp. I'm surprised that PewDiePie didn't charge for his name used in yesterday's article... Wait, he may charge me for using his name! Oh no!!! Yes, that show alone, demonstrates the decline of culture in the west. I wonder if the eastern world is watching lame-o video hosts, ranting, screaming like an undereducated buffoon? so sad.

You don't seem to get it. These people make YouTube videos as their job. Consider any other YouTuber who is making just enough to get by, why would they choose to cover games where they lose 40% of their income? This is what people have said from the start - the system just means that people will have no reason to cover Nintendo games. These people aren't fanboys - they actually work logically, and choose intelligently not to cover a company that will lead to them making less.

Also, your comparison is nonsensical. He doesn't want a world where those that pay the most get reviewed, and that has nothing to do with not playing Nintendo games under their new stupid system. Every other game company accepts this free advertising - none of them are paying for it. The difference is that Nintendo chose to start taking money from people who do this. They have every right to do so, but all it means is that the smart YouTubers will move their business elsewhere, as they evidently are doing.

Just because he's making millions doesn't mean his point isn't valid. Just because you don't enjoy his content doesn't make his point invalid. It's like you're trying to imply that he should be giving in and playing Nintendo games and giving them revenue simply because he's rich. It doesn't matter how much money he has - he chooses what he plays on his channel, and Nintendo luckily, have no control over that.

Many people dedicate their time to making YouTube their career. Suddenly losing a substantial sum of money matters to them as much as it would to anyone who has a job. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're not passionate about what they do - on the contrary, if they've chosen to dedicate their time to the gamble that is a YouTube career then I'd say most of the time they are pretty damn passionate about what they do. For many people its not about being money-grubbing, its suddenly about losing 40% of their income from their main (and probably only) job.

I could see Telltale doing this, as their games focus so heavily on story, but Nintendo wouldn't really be affected, right? Why don't Youtubers cut out the story bits, i.e. cutscenes and things like that. I mean, there are some people who view videos just for the story, so why don't they remove all elements of the story from the video? To me, it seems like a way better compromise than this.
But that's just one man's opinion.

First, I don't know why everyone is assuming that this means that Nintendo will claim videos not partnered with them. This could easily be a business move to make a bit more profit from YouTube among the people who choose to use Nintendo's network.

Because if this were true and Nintendo didn't flag any videos not partnered with them, no one would be idiotic enough to donate 30-40% of their income to Nintendo willingly. They will flag videos not partnered with them, because if they didn't the system wouldn't work.

Haha the way you word it, it almost sounds like extortion. I love Nintendo and always will, but they messed up with this program. It truly is a shame because it could have been amazing, instead its below mediocre. And once again, its not the revenue that angers me about this.

I'm sure they would be happy if someone was profiting off of their transformative gameplay. For the same reason Chamillionaire, Kurt Cobain, and Don McLean are happy that Weird Al profits off of parodies of their songs. Not only is it boosting their own publicity, it's an indication that people love what they have done so much that they are willing to make a living off of it.

And yet Weird Al asks for permission from those he parodies. When someone says no, he accepts that and moves on. There was only one time where Yankovic went against another person's permission (or at least he thought he was given permission at the time), and that was regarding "Amish Paradise". It took some time, but he and Coolio made up. After that, he swore never to parody someone else's work unless granted permission, even though his parodies fall under fair-use. That's what it means to be respectable.

First, he asks permission because he wants to. It's not a legal requirement. Second, he actually thought he had permission from Coolio before he got pissed off. Apparently it was a miscommunication.
Third, he has gone against the copyright holder with You're Pitiful, he only require's the artist's blessing. Last, whether he asks for permission or not is irrelevant, people are still perfectly happy he's profiting off their work without any compensation.

Why tell Nintendo what they're doing wrong? Why not let them go ahead, and watch as it crashes and burns. Maybe my soul is too black to function properly anymore.

How many companies do you know that take money away from the products of their users?

First of all, you can't compare what YouTuber's do to a parody.

Second, this is false.

Oh, here's that article that Nintendo had stopped claiming videos.

Every incident reported on since then has been isolated cases.

#Nope VGA has been ID'd every time they played Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, the only reason it is on YouTube now is because their Turbos asked for it. And BasementofNerds had a similar experience with Pikmin 3. Nintendo is making all the money from those videos.
