currently i am on AT&T and im rocking out on my new motorola atrix. i love having the flexibility of a duel core processor and the personalization of android. and i guess it is nice to have a fingerprint scanner. the camera takes great pictures but they are 60 times better using a third party HDR app. and the call quality is pretty good i guess but use a Bluetooth headset most of the time. i adore google navigation because it has done so much for me so far. voice control is far better than iOS's standard voice control. i have not used surri if thats how you spell it so i cannot compare it to that service. and so far i think there is allot of great stuff in the marketplace. i downloaded the Nvidia tegra center which was made for tegra smartphones and tablets. it led me to this awesome game called dungeon defenders and i highly recommended you to download that game if you have a duel core android phone! it was free as of when i got it and i believe there is an online aspect to the game but it uses the unreal engine which makes it eye candy.

the battery is just (ok) but maybe thats because i use it for allot more then just calls which i thought smartphones were made for that right? i get about a good 6 hours of entertainment use and about 2 thirds of a day for actual calls

now the service is very acceptable. i only pay about $57 a month after taxes. its funny how everyone says AT&T is very expensive but in the end it depends on what plan you get. so far i have not run into any dead zones but a good 80% of the time i have 3 out of 5 bars but i don't notice it really affecting call quality. i believe the atrix uses hspa+ which is AT&T's version of 4G. i have my phone set to always use 4G if available. so i almost always have about 3 to 4 bars of 4G where i go but about 2 bars inside buildings.

overall the phone was at fry's for $99 before tax. now tax was around $20 and i bought the $37 charging dock and a $24 Bluetooth headset made by Samsung so tax on that was around $20 so add the phone + the accessories + the activation fee + the tax and sales tax the whole set up ended up costing $240 after tax. overall i think i did very good for my first smartphone

now its your turn to tell me your phone of choice along with your carrier and you can try to explain it like i did but it probvably would be better to make it shorter then mine because i went into full detail.
So have at it!

If I had a phone, I'd probably grab an iPhone, Experia Play, or a Droid.

yea iphone is OK for me i guess. after i started using android though i realized how much more i could do then my ipod touch. i am not really a jail breaker but i am more of a person who like to stick with the OS the device came with. i see allot of similarities in Samsung android phones and the iphone. maybe thats because Samsung makes some of the parts for the iphone 4? also i think it is pretty funny that the xperia play is the first pure google gingerbread device currently available on Verizon. i also think Droid are ok devices but my experience with the OG Droid felt really sluggish compared to my moto atrix. i kinda like the Droid X2 though with its duel core processor. regardless i love motorola i have had family that had amazing positions there before i was born around the time of the development with the power pc preprocessor

if you're paying $57 a month after taxes for a smartphone on AT&T, you've gotta be on someone else's plan and just paying your share. I pay that much a month right now for absolute bare-bones service for myself — 200 txt messages and no internet whatsoever, screw paying for a data plan. you're right, AT&T isn't the worst out there, but only if you're part of a group or family plan.

i actually am sending my grandma money every month to pay for my line on her plan. she is also on AT&T but is screwing herself over and paying unlimited all on her flip phone. she seriously does not need unlimited all. she doesn't even text at all! yea she might need unlimited voice to talk with family members but i don't need unlimited anything! so i got 1000 texts and around 450 minuets along with a 2 GB data plan. i'm not even really using most of it right now. i also am not really a big talker like my grandma. and you think Teens like me these days rack up the phone bill? well no because most of my friends are on skype and i have internet most of the time.

and my parents they are on a wall-mart cough.. cough wall-mart plan which is pre paid. and i hate wal-mart phones. my parents just have different standards as far as what is a good deal for phone service. my dad says he is to bussey to ever use a smart phone but my mom see's herself using one of them one of these days.

but fair is fair im doing different jobs around the house and helping people with computers to earn money to pay my grandma every month

$50+ doesn't sound excessive to anyone? That's $600 a year, just saying.
I'm sporting a basic flip phone from Virgin Mobile as they've got the best customer support I've ever seen when it comes to phone companies. I pay about $10/month for everything I need. Free texting, too!

@geek-master: what you don't realize is that your grandma might have the unlimited voice to talk with family members, and the unlimited thing very well could be an entire package — voice and text both. if that's true, it's likely that whether she has the unlimited texts or not, she pays the same price. what do you care that she has the ability to text and never uses it? it's her money, lol.

same for your parents. you think it's silly for your grandma to have texting when she doesn't use it, why look down on your parents for using pre-paid phones they got from Wal-Mart? there's no shame in that at all — if that's all they need, that's all they need.

wow just wow. my parents pay $30 plus tax a month for the wal-mart strait talk plan. they are happy with it so far because it uses Verizon towers they get amazing coverage. but their phones feel so cheaply made. but i dont have high standards for LG phones. except for the fact that they make great
stainless steel home appliances and HD TV's
@theblackdragon both her line and mine cost $110 a month plus tax. and yes its my grandma's money but she also likes to save money. maybe she does think in the future she will use texting so she is setting it aside for when she needs it. but i love my family i just want them to be happy. and i believe she is happy for what she is getting with AT&T. as for my parents they are happy with what they have but sometimes my mom wants more than just a simple phone. she has been wanting navigation and a better way to text. almost everyone in my family personaly don''t like pressing multiple times on a set of 10 numbers to text. but i'm sure if in the future they think it is a reasonable decision they might just upgrade to a better strait talk phone
