Hi all!

I was inspired to make this thread after reading some conversations I've seen elsewhere on the forum as a place to share your greatest ever gaming achievements!

I'll kick things off by sharing a couple of stories of my own

Anyone who played GoldenEye 007 (N64) back-in-the-day will remember that, in order to 100% complete the game, you had to pass certain challenges to unlock all of the 'cheats' - these challenges would be to beat a certain level, on a certain difficulty, within a certain time...the most challenging challenge was to complete the Facility level, on 00 Agent (hardest) in just 2:05! Devilishly difficult! ..as with many players, I had multiple failures - until, at last, it all just came together! ..with my little sister timing me, I did the most epic speed-run of my entire life and managed to complete the level in just 1:47! We celebrated like it was the Olympics!! ...what made this really stand out was that, at the time, the Official Nintendo Magazine were running a leaderboard for this particular challenge - and my time would have put me top in the country! Gotta admit that felt pretty special!

...also, a few years ago, my flatmate and I decided to have a few beers and play Mario Strikers Charged Football (Wii) together. Some beers turned in to many beers, a few games turned in to an epic all-night session - the hours went by and the wins racked up - and we eventually did enough to (temporarily) top the daily Worldwide leaderboard! We still talk about that night to this day!

I'd love to hear some of your personal achievements! ..no matter how impressive you think they are!

Peace!

S+ on Splatoon is the best i remember now, but there should surely be something else i'm missing

FGPackers

Nintendo Network ID: FGPackers

@FGPackers I believe in you! Haha! ..I can see how it's possible - if Nintendo didn't kick me from the Testfire servers, I'd probably still be playing now! That game should be rated A for Addictive!!

Let's see:

-Beating Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, Double Dragon 1 and 3, Zelda 2, TMNT 1, Castlevania 1.
-Getting past the infamously difficult second stage in Battletoads.
-Beating Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3.
-Beating Tyson by decision in Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Dark Souls is notoriously difficult...but beating the 'baddest man on the planet', with both ears in tact, has gotta feel damn good!

Beat TMNT on NES, Hacker II on Apple IIGS, that final battle in Viewtiful Joe 1 (I recall it being tough), lots of NES games, too many to list. Beating Mario Strikers on Wii. That final match with Petey is insane.

I'm with you on that one! ..that's when my mate and I discovered our dream team: Diddy Kong (c), Toad x2, Birdo - Diddy and the Toads were so quick and nimble that you could keep possession of the ball really well, so you could just concentrate on creating opportunities for Birdo (whose fully charged 'egg shot' was virtually unstoppable!) ..plus, if you got your timing right, Diddy and Toad could both flip the GK with the ball at their feet and score open goals! Petey never stood a chance! ..great game - prefer it to FIFA tbh - hopefully they'll make one for Switch!

Getting to Ganon in The Legend of Zelda without getting the Master Sword.

Completing Zelda II in one sitting. I was able to grab the Fairy spell before even getting the Candle in the first palace. (This requires you to head south from the beginning of the game and going through Death Mountain in complete darkness.)

Beating Metroid without defeating Kraid nor Ridley and thus getting the best ending in the game.

Perfecting all levels in Bit.Trip Runner, including Perfect on 3-2 (Leaky Krinkston's Bonus Level)!

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

I think you must be me! I had exactly the same experience. I can't remember my time but it was definitely quicker than the ONM record. It felt like it was as close to a perfect run as possible.

The thing with that level was that you had to blaze through, rely on enemies to open doors from the other side and hope like anything that Dr Doak was in just the right room at the end... And of course even then you could do a perfect run and still end up killing Sean Bean or twitchily exit before he'd said enough for the game to register the mission complete (that was really, really annoying).

@StuTwo Haha! YES! Oh boy - so, so tough! Lost count of how many times I failed that particular challenge! ..it was all the more difficult because there wasn't an in-game timer - which is why I roped my sister in to timing me with a stopwatch! ..that final run, like with yours, just felt like the maximum - smooth, fast, a bit of luck too - my sis looked pretty confident ..then BAM! - the results screen - and those red words we were waiting for: 'New Cheat Available'!!! Amazing feeling - excitement, joy, relief - a touch of sadness that there was nothing left to achieve! (Perfect Dark couldn't come soon enough!) Good times

I think the actual record is under a minute! ..can't quite get my head around that one to be honest! ..then again, I'm equally astonished that some people are capable of beating Breath of the Wild in under an hour! ..there are some serious gamers out there!
