technically my first job was an internship at Target when i was in high school. it was an elective, we rode a bus over there for a couple hours every Thursday that semester and did some light stocking and reorganized clearance racks, then bought lunch and hung out on the bench outside until the bus picked us up and brought us back to school. On the days we didn't go we were in some other class. i don't really remember much else about it tbqh; i think i just did it for the extra credit.

that aside, my first real job was at Universal doing food service during Spring Break when i was 16, and then through the summer too. Lord willing, I'll never work food service again.

My first job was at a pizza place too (Little Caesars)! I worked there for 3 years and now I work at a bar.

I was the evil guy who calls your house constantly, when you're behind on your car payment, mwahaha!

Seriously, we'd even have to collect payments from people who hadn't paid off their hearing aids! Yes, you heard that right, I had to badger elderly folks about their hearing aids.

It wasn't a necessarily a fun Job, but it was my first (at age 18).

Just out of curiousity, how long did you stay at that job? Seems like it would be stressful. Did you have to deal with a lot of angry people?

I was there for not quite a full year (Interestingly enough, I didn't even quit. I was let go, because they got p****d off that I had to take time off to go to the dentist).

I had a few angry people, but I was what is called 'front end', so I only got the people who were a few days late (or even calling people in advance, so they wouldn't be late). I never had people that were a month or more past due, which is where things get really heated.

Technically, i suppose it was a paper route when i was 12 or 13. I had my ouwn route, and also covered a friend's route for a month while he was away during the summer — he paid me for covering it for him in a combonation of cash and a couple dozen Transformers comics, Heh.

But first "actual" job would have been good ol' McDonald's, when i was 14, the summer before starting high school. Making around $80-$100 every 2 weeks or so (in 1980s dollars) was like being a millionaire at that age.

I was a research assistant helping a professor try to find extrasolar planets. I had to do all these computer simulations that would take like 2 minutes each to run, so I bought a Game Boy Color and would sit there playing for 2 minutes, then pause the game to start the next simulation. Yeah, so basically I got paid to play video games, lol.

My story is actually the opposite of what @theblackdragon said.

I used to work the snack carts at my high school during my sophomore and junior years, though I started out doing the prep-work. I was fun alright at least when we weren't swamped with customers, but next time your out getting ice cream or something remember to cut the guys behind the counter some slack its way harder than it sounds.

Technically my first job was as an intern at Safeway during my senior year. We had our pick between that or Walmart but since the idea was that hopefully it would lead to landing a paid position I picked Safeway knowing it was a few blocks from home. I worked as a courtesy clerk cleaning restrooms, putting products back on shelves, and retrieving carts. No luck though and neither the manager nor the assistant manager knew if they even got around to looking at my resume.

My first job is my current job: working at the library at my junior college. It is a lot more work than simply checking books out to people; there is processing and displaying daily newspapers, going to the mailroom, shelf reading, recording stats, covering books, phone calls, printing and posting signs, setting up video conferences, inspecting items for damage, checking the book drop, processing requests for books from other campuses, checking out media to instructors, and worst of all, fixing problems in the copy room. There is a lot that you need to know, and it requires a lot of multi-tasking, so cut the librarian at your school/public library some slack, because it is hard work.

I earn play coins in no time at all walking all over the place though...
