Title says it all. What are your favorite dragon bosses?

5. Dragon (Crimson Shroud) - The dragon from Crimson Shroud may not be particularly unique, but in a game that was taking such a classic approach to fantasy as this, it would have been odd not to have it. Given the game's knack for storytelling, it was an encounter you knew you'd be having eventually, and waiting for it's appearance was nerve wrecking, lol.

4. Malifacent (Kingdom Hearts) - Probably my earliest encounter with a dragon themed boss (at least the most memorable early encounter). She was particularly intimidating at the time, with me often hiding in the corner of the battlefield, blasting away with ranged magic & avoiding those dreaded homing green fire balls. The only reason she isn't higher on my list, is that she's not naturally a dragon.

3. Evrae (Final Fantasy X) - What makes a boss fight more epic? A boss fight on the top of an airship! An extra layer of depth is added to the encounter, because in addition to the standard strategy of turn based combat, you can now pull away (and move closer) from the boss by steering the airship (at certain points). This effects the fight significantly, as certain attacks will or won't work at particular distances (while this can work against you, it can also work in your favor, as you manoeuvre to avoid Evrae's powerful petrification & poisioning attacks).

2. Twilit Dragon: Argorok (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess) - It was tough picking just one boss from Zelda (and Volvagia was a close second), but I have to give it to Argorok. He's not the most intimidating boss in terms of looks, but this fight really gets fun when you use your clawshots to take the fight to the skies, and bring his butt to the ground.

1. Ridley-X (Metroid: Fusion) - A sci-fi series may not be the first thing to come to mind when thinking of dragons, but Ridley has all the classic characteristics down. I opted for Fusion's variant of an X replicated Ridley for a few reasons (It was the first Ridley encounter I experienced, and thus the most memorable in my mind. Also, I've found it to be the most difficult one I've played as well). With Ridley's notorious history with Samus, as well as his role as one of gaming's most iconic bosses/villains, any version of him will do though, and a Ridley encounter is sure to get the heart racing!

BTW, as you may have guessed, I opted for one entry per series (not a "rule" by any means, that's just how I wanted to present my particular list).

I originally posted this at an inconvenient time, so I'll give it a one time bump to see if it catches on (if not, oh well...).

Meta Ridley (Metroid Prime 3: Corruption) What an epic free-fall! I was out of breath the first time I finished this battle! The way you have to carefully aim when he's far away, until he comes up/down and grabs you, forcing you to fend for yourself as he plummets with you in his grip. Such a great idea for a boss fight! This might be my favorite battle with the infamous Space Pirate leader.

I kept a save file at that point in the game so I could do it over and over. No joke

Meta Ridley (Metroid Prime) Man, what a build up the game did for this battle! Throughout your journey all you see is short clips of Ridley flying around Tallon IV; you know you were going to fight him, but you just had to keep waiting! Once it happened though, it did not disappoint. All your skills are put to the test, leaving you with no time to breathe! Its just an overall awesome boss battle. Beating him on the harder setting really gives you a sense of accomplishment!

Ridley Clone (Metroid Other M) As much as I dislike the rest of the game, not to mention the cutscene prior to this battle; its just a fun, fast-paced fight that makes you feel so freaking BA! The great orchestration of his theme is definitely a plus too, the best track in the game.

I considered putting Ridley's fight from Zero Mission here, but after replaying it over and over, its not very good; just spam him with missiles and you win!... meh.

Yeah I'm kind of biased towards Ridley. He's a great villain to fight; you never know what he'll do next.

Yeah, it seems like Retro has put some real creative twists into their Ridley fights. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to play the Prime titles, yet.

I've just played Metroid, Retun of Samus, Super, & Fusion.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
