I've been here for a few months and haven't seen a single thread about books, and as I am a pretty big bookworm I decided to start one. Since the release of The Lost Symbol, I have read most of Dan Brown's books and I think that they're fantastic. Another one of my favorites is a book called World War Z, which is great for me since I love zombie movies. As a teenager I also like some books that are aimed for younger audiences, like The Hunger Games, which although it is technically a book more for teenagers than anyone else, I would recommend it to anyone. So, what are your favorites?
Favorite Books: Women's Murder Club The 39 Clues Jane Eyre Daniel X Anything by Agatha Christie Dear John ( I've read this one 3 times in the past month) Percy jackson & The Olympians The Temperance Brennon Novels

Eragon Eldest and Brisingr from Christopher Paolini. As well as lots of anime Mangas. Ranma 1/2, Chibi Vampire, The Kingdom Hearts Manga series, and etc. (Too many to list.) @Starboy: I loved the book Holes. When I saw the Disney movie I was both a little entertained & also dissappointed. It was an okay movie but me I'm just a Shia Lebouf hater .
@Wildvine53 - Oh yeah, I forgot about Percy Jackson. I haven't read those books for a while, but I'm excited to see the movie soon. My mom and sister are also fans of Agatha Christie, but I have never really liked mystery novels too much.
I like lots of books, but I think my favorite has to be The Hobbit. My favorite author is Brian Jacques. Anyone who can tell me the books he wrote gets a prize.
Just let it happen.

The Alex Rider series is pretty awesome! The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is also a great book same goes with Oliver Twist and the Magic Treehouse books!
I've read everything. EVER. XD I don't know how old you kids are, but the Pendragon series by D.J. MacHale is probably the best series I've ever read that would appeal to absolutely anybody. I've never been so enthralled, except perhaps by Harry Potter For you late teens, 'The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' by Douglas Adams is one of the funniest, wittiest, most bizarre and smartest series' I've ever read. You can find a handsome gold trimmed edition with all 5 books in one at Barnes and Nobel for 20 bucks, and you will LOVE IT. For an even older crowd - especially philosophy nuts - the great German philosopher Nietzsche has some of the best works I've ever read in the genre. 'Beyond Good and Evil', 'The Birth of Tragedy', 'Thus Spoke Zarathustra', etc. Any poetry wiz knows 'the Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe, but what you may not know is he has dozens of other poems that I find far superior to that one over popularized work. Religious or not, EVERYbody can get something out of the Bible, and the best way to do that is through the book I'm reading now, 'The Book of God', by Walter Wangerin Jr. it's the complete Bible written out as an easy to follow novel, and so far it's very well done. If I was ever to recommend a book to anyone, though, it would be the Pendragon series. You've never seen science fiction and fantasy mixed together so brilliantly. If you read them and don't absolutely love them to death I will give you a hundred dollars.

@110percentful - I forgot the Redwall series too! I have to say Mossflower is my favorite, although I haven't read them for a while and I only read about half of them. @SpaceBoy - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was excellent and hilarious, though I didn't like the rest of the series as much as the first.
...what is this nonsense, eh? Kids these days and their books, y'know, when I was a kid, we played vidja games on the television and didn't need any of this nonsense to keep us entertained, no sirree Bob...

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
That's pretty true Jaw. It does have plenty of great moments throughout, just not as consistently. There are some parts later in the series where it doesn't even seem like it's trying to be a comedy anymore, but it's still pretty well written. The first one is very highly recommended by me if anybody wants a few dozen good laughs =P

I also like the Harry Potter series of books. But, since I finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I haven't read it since. Maybe I should start with Book One again. :3
I can't believe I forgot the Harry Potter series. That was a good series. I would give you a pixel cookie, but Imageshack is acting stupid. I read all the redwall books in sixth grade, and everyone was amazed at the fact that I could read one in 2 days. I believe he is still writing books, but I'm not really sure.
Just let it happen.

I read The Chamber of Secrets quicker than I have The Philosopher's Stone (we have a European copy) by about an hour. I read Book One in two days, and I read Book Two in two days. :3
