Favorite game overall: Tales of Symphonia- This game literally changed my perspective on video games. I got this game for my 12th birthday, but I was someone who played it really safe with games. So I shelved it in the plastic. I continued to play it super safe with games, only playing games (full games, not flash games) that were tied to a franchise I was familiar with or that I played with a friend (the exception being Wii Sports, cus, well, Wii Sports). Enter freshman year of college, when I heard about the Tales series on with Smash Bros GameFAQs forum. I remembered the game I got in 7th grade, and decided to give it a whirl. And from that point on I was completely hooked. I had never played a game with the combination of story, combat, leveling, and crafting that Symphonia had. From that point on, I really broke out of my shell, and really explored other games I wouldn't have tried previously.

Favorite nostalgic game: Pokemon Crystal
Favorite guilty pleasure game: Doodle Jump- I adore this game. While other simple phone games I have come and go from my interest, I consistently revisit Doodle Jump. I don't care if it's not the "cool" game to like
Favorite stress/anger relief game (as in when you are upset or overwhelmed): Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Wii- I don't care that the controls don't work 30% of the time. I just want to swing my arms around and lay waste to storm troopers
Favorite relaxation game (as in when you aren't upset, but you are tired): Not really sure. It varies a lot for me between story, exploration, and combat heavy games.
Favorite game to play with friends: Super Smash Bros Melee
Favorite game to play with family: NHL Hitz 20-02
Favorite game you didn't own (as in a game you played a lot, but didn't have yourself): Super Smash Bros 64
Favorite game that kept you playing through the night: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

You can add or remove categories as you please, but be sure the categories have to do with your personal experience, not general criteria. So "Favorite game that tugged at your heart strings" or "Favorite game you played in College" could work, but not "Favorite RPG" or "Favorite Nintendo Game".

Also, if you want to, you can mention a reasoning, but you don't have to.

New categories:
Favorite OST: Super Mario Galaxy
Biggest Disappointment: Tales of the Abyss
Favorite game you play to help focus: Tetris 2P Battle on Tetrisfriends.com
Favorite nostalgic system: Gameboy Color
Going back to play old game...AAAH MY EYES system: Nintendo DS
The game that unleashed your inner psychopath: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

Just to be clear, you aren't restricted to introducing just one category, and you aren't obligated to fill in every category.

Favorite nostalgic game would probably be a good chunk of N64 titles (but especially Paper Mario).

Guilty Pleasure would either be Glover or Enter the Matrix. Glover is YMMV but Enter the Matrix is straight up a bad video game, but I really enjoy...most of it.

When I'm tired I usually play retro platformers.

Nostalgia value: Spyro the Dragon
Multiplayer: Mario Kart 64 (doubles as nostalgia value)
Never owned: Pikmin (only rented and later borrowed)
Guilty pleasure: Shadow the Hedgehog. (Dis)honorable mention goes to Donkey Kong 64

Personal favorite: Well I already said Spyro, so I guess I'll go with Sonic Unleashed. The PS3 version was a revelation—despite having so many things going against it, this game amazed me. The blend of fantastical, breathtakingly fast gameplay and beautiful earthly environments made for an experience more exhilarating than any I had seen or had before in a game.

Skipping on favourite game

Favorite nostalgic game: Pokemon 3rd Gen, and Age of Empires 2
Favorite guilty pleasure game: Any otaku JRPG pretty much. I get embarrassed admitting that a few of them are actually pretty fun to play.
Favorite stress/anger relief game (as in when you are upset or overwhelmed): Just Cause 2: Scenic Driving Simulator. I don't even kill people - the scenery is that good. Sleeping Dogs is also good in this regard. When I'm overwhelmed I just like to drive leisurely haha
Favorite relaxation game (as in when you aren't upset, but you are tired): Usually a grind heavy RPG. My most recent one is Conception 2, which doubles as a guilty pleasure ^^
Favorite game to play with friends: Starcraft 2. Getting collectively better as a team feels awesome.
Favorite game you didn't own (as in a game you played a lot, but didn't have yourself): Any Mario Kart besides DS.
Favorite game that kept you playing through the night: I play pretty much all my games through the night.
Favorite OST: To the Moon

Finally, one favorite thread to rule them all, one favorite thread to bind them. But enough of that, here are mine.
Favorite Game of All Time: I'll just put a three way tie between Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, and Team Fortress 2 because I can't pick.
Favorite Nostalgic Game: There are a lot of strong contenders from the Gameboy Advance and GameCube here. Either Mario Kart: Super Circuit or Super Mario Sunshine.
Favorite Guilty Pleasure Game: Partly from nostalgia, but Frogger's Adventures: Temple of the Frog and The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Wild Adventure come to mind.
Favorite Sports Game: SSX Tricky hands down.
Favorite Simulation Game: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 which also comes close in the nostalgia category.
Favorite Game You Didn't Own: I played a lot of Burnout Paradise with my cousin over vacation and it was a blast.
Favorite OST: Donkey Kong Country 2 still has the top spot, but Tropical Freeze might overtake it.
Biggest Letdown: Normally I don't end up disappointed by games, so this was a tough category. I guess Scribblenauts on the DS, partly because I was expecting it to be a lot more fun, and partly because it couldn't compare to Bowser's Inside Story which I bought the same day.

Favorite game overall: Luigi's Mansion - I've been back and forth on what's truly my favorite game. It's so hard to say, with quite a few variables making it a tough choice. Still, I just love this game, and was overjoyed when it got a sequel. It's a ton of fun and was the perfect "Mario" game to introduce the Gamecube, no matter what others say.
Favorite nostalgic game: Backyard Baseball 2003 - There isn't much better than curbstomping coms in a sports game for kids.
Favorite guilty pleasure game: Katawa Shoujo - Don't ask.
Favorite game to play with friends: Super Smash Bros. Brawl - This will more than likely switch with Super Smash Bros. 4 this week, but for now, my friends and I have spent over 600 hours duking it out in the best brawler out there.
Favorite game you didn't own: South Park: The Stick of Truth - I played this on my friend's computer, and enjoyed the hilarity the entire time.
Favorite game that kept you playing through the night: Fantasy Life - I may or may not have gone to bed much later than I should have multiple times due to the 65 hours I've put into this game.

Favorite OST: Animal Crossing - K.K. Slider is my favorite lyricist.

Favorite game that's so dumb, it's entertaining: Rocket Power: Beach Bandits - This game is so dumb. I mean, it's not exactly competent, the story is incredibly stupid, and each person has 1.5 expressions (some can show two emotions!), but for some reason every folly was wholly entertaining. From beginning to end (about 6-7 hours), I didn't really regret this game despite its flaws.
The game you can't stop breaking: Amnesia: The Dark Descent - For some reason, me and horror games don't mix. In this game alone I jumped on a pipe and left the game world, locked a mouse behind some apples, stuck a wine bottle in a wooden holder, had another bottle bounce up and down in a vat of acid, got chairs stuck in open windows, and even outran the monster with a serpentine/jumping pattern.
The game you kept playing long after you realized how bad it was: Lux-Pain: The story held so much promise, but the translations were awful and the 'gameplay' was underwhelming. It was definitely not worth the 19 hours I put into it, but by golly I was going to finish it.
The game where you wish you'd never taken off the nostalgia goggles: Mario Kart 64 - I loved this game as a kid, but that luster wore off quickly the moment a blue shell I threw turned right around and knocked me off a cliff. This was not an isolated incident.

Favorite game overall: Mario his
Favorite game of all time: Zelda 2: The Adventure Of Link
Favorite guilty pleasure game: The Sims Bustin' Out. Well, back in the day. Haven't played the series in almost 10 years.
Favorite stress/anger relief game (as in when you are upset or overwhelmed): I've tried going on a killing spree and destroying vehicles in GTA, but it doesn't really help. I'd rather just put some music on.
Favorite relaxation game (as in when you aren't upset, but you are tired): Spider Solitaire
Favorite game to play with friends/family: Bomberman
Favorite game you didn't own (as in a game you played a lot, but didn't have yourself): Stunt Race FX
Luigi is awesome: Super Mario Bros. 2 (the NES game released in the west) Honorable mention: Mario Is Missing
Biggest Disappointment: Metal Gear Solid 4
Favorite game to play around Christmas: Gran Turismo 5

Veloster

Favorite game overall: Ocarina of Time; this game, alongside Wind Waker, was my childhood. The mystery of the different temples landscapes etc. Plus the bosses are some of my favourite of all time. The fact that I'm still saying this as an adult shows just how much this game means to me. Nothing I've played since I played this game has ever came close to giving the same sense of wonder and enjoyment.

Favorite nostalgic game: Wind Waker. Instead of saying Ocarina again, I'll give Wind Waker this one. Especially since it has my all-time favourite boss, Molgera! Plus there's the awesomeness of sailing through the sunrise as the Great Sea theme slowly builds up.
Favorite guilty pleasure game: Loco Roco/Little Big Planet
Favorite stress/anger relief game (as in when you are upset or overwhelmed): C.O.D Black Ops 2 - Combat Training. Nothing more stress relieving than listening to your own music whilst smashing through bots with a Shotgun.
Favorite relaxation game (as in when you aren't upset, but you are tired): Probably just cruising around in GTA V.
Favorite game to play with friends: Black Ops 2 online, or GTA V offline.
Favorite game to play with family: Black Ops 2.
Favorite game you didn't own (as in a game you played a lot, but didn't have yourself): None really.
Favorite game that kept you playing through the night: I completely lose track of time whilst playing GTA V.

Favorite game overall - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Favorite nostalgic game - While there are plenty of games that make me feel nostalgic (Super Mario 64, Majora's Mask, Sonic 2, TMNT II: The Arcade Game, Super Mario Bros. 3, etc.), the one thing that most transports me back to a different time is Green Hill Zone's theme. I don't particularly care for Sonic 1 anymore, but every time I boot up the game and listen the the first level's music, I'm 6 again. If only for a few seconds.

Favorite guilty pleasure - Long Live the Queen. Hey, don't look at me like that. It's basically a Sansa Stark simulator, and it's great (and really flipping hard)! Actually, this image (WARNING: there is some adult language) just about sums up the entire experience.

Favorite stress/anger relief game - Either Katamari Damacy or We Love Katamari (freaking cowbear levels excepted).

Favorite relaxation game - Picross DS. I really just zone everything else out, unwind and think purely in number and grid combinations.

Favorite game to play with friends - Super Smash Bros. series

Favorite game to play with family - Mario Kart series (particularly DS and 7)

Favorite game you didn't own - Power Stone 2, my favorite Dreamcast game. I always had to either go to a friend's house or borrow their copy if I wanted to play it.

Favorite game that kept you playing through the night - Civilization IV. Just one more turn...

Favorite OST - Oh man, this is an impossible choice. Some days it's Chrono Cross. Some days it's Donkey Kong Country 2. And other days it could be Ni no Kuni, Aquaria, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 or one of any other 2 or 3 dozen soundtracks.

Biggest disappointment - I rarely let myself get overhyped for games, but Grandia III was an exception. The battle system was as fantastic as ever and it looked & sounded great at the time, but the entire experience is essentially just one straight line to the end, the story was completely unremarkable (aside from a ridiculous-in-the-worst-sense villain whose motivation was to "destroy all love") and the only characters in the entire game that aren't irritating and/or dull as dirt basically rush to the the video game escape pod about 4-5 hours in and never return. It's far from the worst thing ever, but I dearly wanted it to be great and it definitely wasn't that either.

Favorite game you play to help focus - Spelunky. It could (and can still be) incredibly frustrating at times, but no other game has rewarded me for patience, focus and the value of slowly adjusting and improving my skills. It's immensely satisfying to step back every couple of months and look back at how much better I've managed to get over that span of time.

Favorite nostalgic system - I will always hold a soft spot for the Nintendo 64, even though you often went months and months without anything new to play and there are only a handful of games for it that I can still play today without cringing or getting bored.

Going back to play old game... AAAH MY EYES system - Tie between N64 and the PlayStation. They were cool and revolutionary at the time, but looking back, it was also a very awkward time for gaming. Aside from certain heavily-stylized games (like Paper Mario) and the very rare 2D games, almost everything is butt ugly visually.

The game that unleashed your inner psychopath - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I did many terrible, terrible things in that game.

Unexpected treasure - I went into Yakuza not knowing quite what to expect, and was rewarded with a delightfully hammy soap opera stretching several games, surprisingly varied (especially after the 1st game), flexible and accessible beat'em up/brawler gameplay that I found very fun despite usually not caring for the genre, and some incredibly goofy sidequests.

Going back to play old game...AAAH MY EYES system: Playstation 2 (and Wii)
I never noticed how blocky the graphics were until I went back to play it. Can't quite explain it, but N64 graphics don't bother me, but the PS2 does. It feels like someone mashed a Nintendo 64 together with a PS3 and ended up with frankenstein models.

Edited on by SkywardLink98

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
