For me, it's...
You compare the price to that of a console "That cost the same amount as 4 3DSs!" said I.
You subscribe to one video gaming website and are on another all day long.
You're video gaming collection is neatly organized, and even that took an hour.
The activity log on your 3DS says you played about 100 hours in March alone.
You go to 3 or more tournaments a week (real life or online)

How do you know you're an addict?

Do you really think addict is the correct term to use here?

You know you're a video gaming nut...

You know you're a dedicated gamer...

You know that games tickle your fancy...

I can beat the first mass effect in less than 20 hours in one sitting while doing all side missions.

Beyond that I don't know.

You know you're a video game addict when you camp out for a system and play it nonstop for 5 days. (btw I never did that).

You go to a video game site and post a thread like this declaring that you are a video game addict.

You know you're a video game addict when you can be quizzed on the entire history of video games and get every question right. (I'm my town's video game encyclopedia )

Chrono_Cross

100% Super Mario World in 2 hours and with only 3 hours I can do the same with Donkey Kong Country. Metal Gear Solid in less than 1:30.

I'm also pretty rad at Black Ops.

Just for you.

I can defeat most games in less than 30 hours, but those 30 hours are in a week. At least, mostly defeated. KIU, I have 82.5%, technically defeated. But now I can usually get in the top 3 over wireless play. That's pretty cool, @Chrono_Cross

You know you're a video game addict when you realise that you are sacrificing other areas of your life (family, work, relationships) in order to give yourself more time to play video games.

I'm not trying to be funny, by the way. (I agree with Aviator).

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

I don't get what you're trying to say. Are you implying I'm an alcoholic, or are you suggesting that video game addiction is on the same level as alcoholism.

Yes, some people are 'addicted' to video games. However, nearly all (if not all) of the 'addictions' listed here are nothing more than hobbies. To put these hobbies in the same category as an addiction is quite insulting.

I can stop playing video games any time I want, I just don't want to.

I have taken more out of video games than video games have taken out of me.

etc.
