i'm not just talking your typical hometown police roadblock... i mean like this:
there's NO WAY i'm getting through.
so i could use some help. i'm trying to write a short story for my university's literary journal they put out every semester. i wrote one last semester and was the featured piece and was even awarded $100 for it, as well as aksed to do a public reading/ question and answer session, as well as an interview on the local TV station. so, while i don't have to be the top writer in the publication every time, i don't want to do this half-way, either. for my own pride, if nothing else. if i can't come up with anything i feel confident about, i just won't submit anything, but i would REALLY like to have an entry for all 8 semesters i'll have been in college.
so i was wondering if any of you had suggestions for me. i have one idea, but it's a bit ambitious, and i don't think i can do it at this point. if i'd thought of it sooner, perhaps, but for now, i'll have to save it for next semester. so i don't know where to go anymore. do you guys have any suggestions as far as themes to center the story around, or for setting or basic premise or plot hook? any ideas you guys have would be helpful, and i'd VERY much appreciate it.
THANKS!

WWGGD (What would GabeGreens Do?) Open up your mind and find your inner sanctum of creativity. That is the best advice I can give you. I have no actual ideas, sorry.

Listen to different genres of music. That's what I do for inspiration. For example, I wanted to draw a nice, futuristic robot, so I listened to Daft Punk songs. Obviously a drawing is different than a story, but it could work
write a story about me, and how all the cutest knights in the kingdom fight for my affections~

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
@Feenie: i think that would make a good premise for a game... but not so much for a short story... where's the thematic depth?
Thematic depth pneumatic slept. As long as I'm in it, who cares?

If you have the time, I reckon you should just block it out for a day. Keep yourself occupied, and do whatever you can to eliminate and ignore stress from it.
After a nice relaxing break you should be better prepared.
Epically punch a wall. It might hurt, but at least you'll feel awesome while you do it.

Do what GIR did. GIR: GIR, reporting for duty. Zim: GIR? What does the G stand for? GIR: I don't know. [pauses, then begins screaming and hitting himself] Zim: Ummm...is it supposed to be stupid?
