It pains me to say that Nintendolife doesn't quite live up to its title. you see the domain name and you think of a site that's designed to provide a dependable support structure for the Nintendo elite while delivering news that we can count on, that means news that matters. You think of a site for gamers with Nintendo in their veins. But much to my frustration I see article after article of fodder for the surprising number of half supporters I see posting comments on this site. Three popular comments being "Nintendo should quit", "The Wiiu is underpowered", and "I want Mario on my playstation".
It's a well designed site but I don't feel happy here. I don't feel like there's enough of an environment for me to talk about the things that should matter the most to a Nintendo gamer, the reasons we buy Nintendo consoles.
I mean, it's normal to run into bad news, but it's gotten ridiculous. For every relevent article there's an unnecessary article about some biased jerk's less than positive opinion on the Wiiu or the results of some irrelevant hardware analysis, or even an unquestioned posting of misinformation. It's hard to get excited about good news when there's a doom and gloom column on the same page. Maybe N'life should post a 'Doom and Gloom' option on their column menu, lol. And the saddest part of that is that you don't run into such an issue at Sony or Microsoft's sites, it seems exclusive to Nintendo.
But, with all the crazy press going on with Nintendo these days I feel that we need a dedicated site like this, though considering its flaws I don't know how long I can stay a subscriber. I don't know, what are your thoughts on this?
It's like this everywhere though. Nintendo is always picked on, even if they are doing the right thing. Even if Nintendo gave everyone a Wii U for free, people would be still be pissed or disappointed, that just how it goes.
EDIT: Also, like turtlelink said, it hasn't been as bad as it usually, lately.
Is it really worth making it the site's fault for the negative comments? That's just people's opinions. Honestly, it would be your fault if that made you unhappy here, you don't have to regard the comments.
Haters are quite real. It's the wars that don't exist. Believing haters don't exist is like believing prejudice doesn't exist. I wasn't talking about haters anyway. Being biased doesn't make you a hater.
I have never seen those three "popular" comments on this site before in my life.
And whats up with people complaining about haters that don't even exist lately?
People are complaining because it's tiresome to go to a website titled Nintendolife, that is backhandedly hating on Nintendo. I'm not saying Nintendo is perfect, or to ignore the news. I'm saying that stories could easily be framed in a way that don't try to get your goat.
I do believe NL focuses a little too much on the Wii U's mediocrity (in sales) at the moment. Yet I don't usually see the negativity you talk about. You probably listen to LordJumpMad too often.
The site is usually in the right. It's mainly the users that start the doom and gloom. They post news no matter what it is.
Besides, all the PS fans are on this site, because PushSquare's forums are dead silent, so you have to expect some sort of retaliation.
All the PushSquare users migrated to NL.

The Wii U has had lousy sales and has not had a first party game since launch (at least in the west). What "good news" do you see for the Wii u right now?

That's interesting, I don't know why anyone would come to a particular game site to troll on aficionados of a system they don't like.
For me I like all the systems with the exception of the XBOX, and that is only because I had two of them break on me rather quickly. Other than that Halo is just fine with me.
You are exaggerating people who don't love Nintendo above everyone else. The site makes it clear you can critise Nintendo and even like Sony more than then big N if you please. Who the freaken said I want Mario on Playstation (or something similar)? I can't think of anything like that.
I once made a joke (or at least thought of it) about my worry that people take Nintendo Life too literally. As in, someone exists whose life revolves entirely around Nintendo. And it was funny.

[quote] You're right. In fact, I really don't have to read the columns. But the thing about me is I tend to automatically consider every featured posting as relevant. But also, my point with that was imagine that you came to school with an unusual hairdo, and no one was bothering you until someone shouted something impartial about it. Then all of a sudden you're the center of attention and no one is saying anything positive.
Um... Nintendo Life is "Life about nintendo" not "Nintendo! Where everything is happy and nary a Goomba in the Corner!"
Unfortunately yes. There are some less than favorable articles here.
But whatever happens we'll try to be as supportive as we can here....
And you never see this type of bad news on a Sony/Microsoft Site? Really?
Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.
This is a site run by fans for fans, they're free to put any news they want in any way they want, they're not obligated to talk only about nice things and rainbows.
