It had its own style. The Gamecube and Wii ones were quite good if you played them properly and accepted deaths as part of the game.

Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory is probably the worst sequel I have played. (Sequel to Burger Time) it is part of Data East Arcade Classics (Wii).

Paper Mario Sticker Star. That game was one huge disappointment.

Other M didn't damage the franchise. The fans have. Hopefully, it'll recover from that damage on the 3DS or Wii U, though I wouldn't be surprised if Metroid would skip this generation.

Well if it wasn't for Sakamoto force-feeding us his vision of Samus' character, I think the game would've fared better.

Lately I've been thinking of how much better the game would've been if it was a prequel to the series.

Seeing her be more talkative and emotional makes more sense if she were just starting out as a bounty hunter, Ridley encounter and all; and would also make the transition to her more silent, cold personality seen in most other games just all the more impactful IMO.

Also I doubt Metroid will skip this generation, if Miyamoto himself has expressed interest in making one on Wii U. A new Metroid would work perfectly with the Gamepad, I can imagine plenty of ways it could be used.

Miyamoto also opened his mouth several times about the next Pikmin during the Wii generation, and we all know what happened there. Other M is also strictly set between Super and Fusion as it is, it wouldn't work as a prequel unless it was entirely redone. I wouldn't mind a prequel that takes place before the original Metroid, and emphasizes events that have been kept in the manga...but like I said, that's not Other M.

Pikmin's not as big of a franchise as Metroid though, it just got its third game in about 8 years.

I know it can't be a prequel now; I'm just saying how most of the events that occured in Other M could've been tweaked to happen before the first Metroid. Stuff like the MB nonsense, Samus' flashbacks, etc. would be taken out.

Also, I'm sure you've seen and/or read "that" new article that went up today. :)
