I watched Fairly Oddparents about a year ago and I had no clue as to what I was looking at either. That was a really good and original show back in the day too. Fairly Odd and Spongebob are just running on fumes now. Those are shows that just overstayed their welcome.
Remember Rugrats and the Wild Thornberrys and CatDog and the Weekenders and Kim Possible and the Power Puff Girls and Samurai Jack and..... you see where I'm going with this? Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was the last cartoon I found entertaining.
@Gioku - but first kisses, rather first kisses on someone's cheek as was the case here, are not that affecting. How is that even a thing? That's strange even for '70s standards; I was like, "What, what is this I don't even?". Charlie Brown, you really like this redhead with no personality? You have got to so boring to even want anything to do with someone boring like her. Speaking of forgetting the whole day happened, once the dream ends he's in bed, and he holds a brochure of the football/rugby; that's when it should've ended. I may have even forgiven the special for pissing me off so much had it just ended there (the whole meanspiritedness would've just been a dream, and I probably would've been okay with that); but no, let's keep making this irritatingly intolerable by throwing in a whole "Charlie Brown was the life of the party; what's the point of being happy if you forget a whole day happened; last minute happy ending message". I HATE THIS SPECIAL!!!! DXpunches a hole in the wall
Sometimes I wonder what is worse: watching a bad animated something with characters you don't like or watching a bad animated something with characters you do like; it's such an unhealthy comparison. Because with the former you could care less what happens to the characters, while the latter's so painful because you don't want the characters you like to go in a bad direction.
@Gamecubed - Adventure Time is pretty good (weird, but good); Phineas and Ferb is good; Gravity Falls is awesome; Wander Over Yonder is fun. I haven't seen Steven Universe (which was rated the #1 show of 2013), but I hear it's pretty good.
I never really got the appeal of Fairly Odd Parents. Even when it was "good," it was loud and obnoxious. Every line is yelled and every joke is beaten over the head of the audience.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
For the people who dont believe that spongebob is ruined... look at this episode where squidward comm.... well just watch. Sorry if your childhood is ruined!
Hm, a tough question. There's so much stuff I hate about todays cartoon standards, and it's really hard to pick the one I deem worst. So I'll make a Top 3 list of insults to the genre:
Spongebob Squarepants: Just like most above, I used to like it, but the new episodes are just disgusting beyond recognition.
Rabbids Invasion: it's just so... pointless. I don't see the joke in mentally damaged alien rabbits doing random stuff.
Family Guy: I don't wanna start an argument about it, so let's just say I hate it.
And since others did so, I'll grab a quck list for animé, as well:
Kill la Kill: It started decently, but quickly lost everything worthwhile to degenerate into a mashup of blatantly bad fanservice and a terrible excuse of a plot.
Maken-Ki: this stuff is just one of many destroyers of the animé business. Why must there always be humongous boobs in animé nowadays?!
Shingeki no Kyoujin: well sorry to all fans, but it sucks. The half-baked story is wrapped up halfway through, and all else is Naruto-quality fights (yes, that's a legitimate insult to SnK, it really is that bad).
@Red_XIII don't remind me of School Days...... >.>
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I can think of quite a few cartoons. Not many that are that long-running, though. Most terrible shows go away pretty fast. Uncle Grandpa is probably the worst one right now (which is saying a lot, because Breadwinners is pretty awful, too). Modern SpongeBob is pretty bad (although it isn't as bad as the other two I mentioned. I'm just disappointed that the quality completely fell off a cliff after the 3rd season/movie.)
In terms of anime, it's no contest: Mars of Destruction. Believe it or not, this was actually released on DVD. The entire show is 20 minutes. Despite such a short time, it manages to disappoint and bore everyone who sees it.
@Red_XIII Bakugan? Yes, actually. It's rather decent for a toy-based show. The plot wasn't really original, but the build-up was above average and well-written.
School Days, on the other hand, is a really good one. Animation quality wasn't too overwhelming, but the plot and characters were rather interestingly developed. And the twist around the last 3 episodes wasn't surprising, but the outcome really stood out.
Both of those surpass Kill la Kill and Shingeki no Kyoujin, especially in terms of good storytelling.
Kill la Kill just wastes time on building up interesting things, only to throw them away for the worst excuse plot (friggin' aliens?! LAAAAAAAMEST BULL EVER!!!) you can imagine. Add to that the pointlessly uninspired characters and bad dialogue, and the result is just what kills the animé business.
Shingeki no Kyoujin is a similar case, but the story is pretty much over halfway through, and then it boils down to implausible battles and battlers (Wow, so you're a titan, too? And you can control it? Totally makes sense.) because there's no interesting stuff left to make a plot out of. And the combat choreography is just plain awful.
But I can't say I've watched Beyblade ever since the first series ended, so I have no word on that.

@Gamecubed - Adventure Time is pretty good (weird, but good).
People in the comments section of this video don't agree with you.
Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls (<-Nothing against their fans, just my opinion!) better than Kids Next Door, Billy And Mandy, Sheep In The Big City, Chowder, The Secret Saturdays and Sym-Bionic Titan? No, just... no.
The others are good, save the later seasons of Dexter's Lab and a few of Foster's episodes.
Ben 10 was great for the first two seasons. Like, easily one of the best action cartoons I've seen. It went waaaaaaaaaay too long, though. Like evey cartoon does that's not canceled before it gets going. Comedies I can understand, but action cartoons with actual stories need a strict limit to how long they can run.

I only thought the original run was okay. Not my favorite, but not anywhere near as annoying as it is now. Actually I found its sister series, Generator Rex, to be much more interesting. The major problem I have with story driven action programs is that most of them tend to end without a proper conclusion.
