Topic: Worst Anime you've ever seen

Haganai is supposed to show you that you can't judge a book by it's cover. Kodoka plays it straight with his appearance. The other members, while "pretty" on the outside, have something wrong with their personalities. There's a lot of things you can pick out of the series, like good vs evil, the effects of fear and pride on people's behavior, etc. The biggest irony from the anime is while the characters all think they don't have any friends, they eventually do without realizing it.

Honestly, I don't even like most of the ones people are mentioning. IMO, Tenchi Muyo was the only one that did it right. It had a plot that did not revolve around the relationships and fanservice. The humor was relatively varied and didn't revolve around around the same few ideas. It had female characters whose main defining traits weren't "she really really likes Tenchi". In fact, most of the girls didn't pursue Tenchi, and the 2 or 3 that did actually don't have very attractive personalities and an actual relationship would probably turn out horrible for Tenchi, making it reasonable that he never pursues them (not to mention they're all outside his species and Tenchi just wants to live a normal life). And then there's the fact that Tenchi himself is arguably a respectable man - he stands up for people, he's helpful, he's kind, he's fairly smart, he's modest, he studies hard and strives to live a good life. And when push comes to shove he'll fight to protect the people he cares about. I'd say he's a pretty good guy, unlike 99% of the main dudes I've seen in other harems.

should try to watch now that I'll probably understand what's happening and won't lose any episode since I won't be watching on TV.

If I remember right, Tenchi in Tokyo was the black sheep of the series. I should re-watch it, just to be sure.

Yeah, tbh, it was more comedy focused and stripped out a lot of what made Tenchi Muyo stand out once the harem craze caught on. It was like they were trying to make it more like Love Hina...

I won't pretend for a moment that 90% of harem anime isn't crap, but honestly, if it's one of the generic bad ones, all I ask that it has some good gags, doesn't drag on for more than one cour, and has likeable enough characters. AKA, everything that Shuffle isn't.

Surprised no one mentioned Speed Grapher or Master of Martial Hearts.
Speed Grapher is, visually, one the worst anime I've seen. The animation quality seems to giggle more than the "attributes" of the ladies of Master of Martial Hearts. Seriously, that OVA has some of the most inconsistent character models ever, with cup sizes changing every other frame (at least from the reviews I've seen). Then there's the ending, it tries to pull the BS deconstruction card, in that it's meant to be a deconstruction of the panty fighter genre with a super poorly written dues-ex-machina twist that takes the entire last episode to explain.
Be warned though, both anime are extremely NSFW. Though Speed Grapher's NSFW-ness is supposed to be part of the deconstruction .

^Well, it's supposed to look like it was drawn by a kid with a Crayon. That's literally its entire gimmick before it given the Abridged treatment by Funi.

I don't watch alot of Anime, but I stopped watching Magi, because while it started off with a bang, it quickly got slower and less interesting.
A year and a half later, my friend is telling me it gets alot better though.

The first major arc of Magi, starting at episode 6 or 7, is one of the best arcs I've seen in anime.

I have tons more, but in all honestly, these are the ones that irritate me the most.

K-on is pretty lame if you thought it was going to be about music lol. It's about friends having fun and doing very little.

Harem is pretty self-explanatory. Some of them were legitimately funny which was nice, but that's about it.

And Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - I didn't dislike this one per se, but I didn't get the hype surrounding it either. It just had so much genre hopping that it never got focused. In the drama category, Kokoro Connect has a similar premise but done way way better (just don't google anything about a scandal, you'll enjoy the show more if you don't know about it).

It was a Mech based wanta say US/Japanese military anime that started out promising for the first 5 episode but promptly took a nose dive for the remainder of the series. I would say it was about 15 years ago it came out. Someone help me out here!

Blue Gender most likely. Were there lots of Monsters?

No monsters and I could tolerate Blue Gender. Is was more of a serious style of anime. More military mechs then anything. Uggh, it's killing me I can't remember what it was.

School Days was pretty damn awful, watched the first season of K-ON too and wasn't too impressed with it, but my personal least favourite was Mouse. It's so bad that it's actually hilarious at times. Only watched it because I saw it was being taken down from Crunchyroll (and for good reason too!).

I like harem anime (guess I'm a sucker for cheesecake) but I do understand why people probably wouldn't like the rampant fan service that's in most of them.

Was it Gasaraki? I actually thought that was really good once you got past the first few episodes...it was kind of weird with the spiritualism and revisionist history elements, but I actually thought it helped it stand out.

Yep, that was it. For whatever reason me and my cousin just couldn't get into it and I bought the whole series because I like to finish things. Maybe I need to re-visit the series because sometimes when I re-watch things I like them more ie Lain.

I didn't like it at first either, and it's still one of the worst I've seen from Ryosuke Takahashi (who has done a lot of great stuff, like Dougram, Votoms, and Layzner, as well as the script for GaoGaiGar), but it's still miles ahead of Blue Gender IMO.
