Someone had better pull out their Ocarina of Time and play the Song of Time on the final day.

I think that just saves them, and we'd continue in an alternate time line. Either way, it won't save much, doubt there's any giants to summon this time.

Does seriously nobody wonder if the Mayans just decided to not make more calendars simply because they got tired of making them? Sorry, but I'm not leaving it to a now extinct civilization that worshiped the stars and performed child sacrifices to correctly predict an event that would happen thousands of years ahead of their time.

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

The Mayans actually had more calendars, that go on much, much longer.

The particular one that that people are referencing (for the supposed "end of the world"), is simply covering a unit of time called a baktun (much like our centuries or a millennium. probably spelled that wrong, BTW), that is ending on the 21st, after which a new baktun will begin in their calendar.

People on the internet completely misinterpreted it (a baktun is apparently pretty long, covering thousands of years), and thought it was some sort of doomsday prophecy (the Mayans themselves didn't even mention anything about doomsday. They believed something important was supposed to happen on that date, but there's nothing to support the theory that they believed it was doomsday).
