Now that Windows XP is gone. who has memories of it and who is going to miss it? Me personally, the only thing i think i'll miss is the built in pinball game. otherwise, I have no need for it, now that i have a windows 7 laptop.

the pinball game was all that mattered, now it'll become a hacker cluster because too many machines use it so it'll be hacking paradise without all the safety updates.

I am not going to miss it. I upgraded all of my PCs to 7 years ago. Still for the time I enjoyed XP it was much better then ME and it was a whole lot better then Vista.

Back in elementary school I got moderately okay at the pinball game! I got to, like, the third lowest rank out of nine or ten.

I don't know much about the operating system, but I think people probably say it's one of the better Windows iterations. (Hey, I had to say something to justify the existence of this post.)

What the OP means by gone is that MS is no longer supporting it. Along with antivirus companies and others.

It's basically my dad's computer, so... yeah. He's waiting for 'Windows 9', apparently...

all his personal info will be stolen by the time it happens, if he doesn't want to buy Windows tell him to get a Linux OS they are kinda limited when it comes to stuff like gaming but they're great and there are countless free ones

I used XP for quite a while, but that PC broke and my Dad got us a Vista when that was new, but we hated that. One day though some people we new gave us a couple new computers they didn't use anymore. One of them was a Sony Vaio XP and I used that until last August when I got a Windows 8 laptop. So yeah, I'm really gonna miss XP, but I do love Windows 8 as well. I'm glad I got it instead of listening to all of the bashing it gets. As for 3D Pinball, I never cared for it that much. I never liked the physics, and I never really knew the rules. I never cared about pinball until I played Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection on Wii, then it became my biggest hobby. Besides all that, I have the original Full Tilt Pinball game it was taken from, but I doubt it would run on Windows 8.

I like makin' games!
Future Pinball games!
Petit Computer games!!
and SmileBASIC games!
Waiting for Kirby Air Ride 2. One day, it will come. One day...

Not necessarily. They're are still some 3rd party antivirus applications that will continue to work with XP for foreseeable future (such as Panda Security), and using a hardware firewall and a secure web browser (in other words, anything except Internet Explorer) can offer extra protection. Google has already announced that Chrome will be supported on XP until at least April 2015.
I agree that people should move away from XP as soon as they get a chance, but continuing to use it isn't the end of the world. A lot of ATMs and cash registers are still using XP.

yeah I know it but all the most used antiviruses will move on

While I'm not as alarmist as you, I do agree that if he has a old Windows Xp PC that can't/won't upgrade to newer Windows versions, Linux OS's are the best choice. Something like Xubuntu would work wonders even on ten year old hardware. It's based on Ubuntu with a Xfce interface, which means you get access to the largest number of applications built for the most popular Linux (Ubuntu) with a lightweight and very familiar GUI for Windows users.

@Samurai_Goroh I wasn't alarmist, until today when my Computer Architecture 2 teacher started talking about it becoming the hacker heaven and that the hackers will try to do it good to leave a mark in the world.

Well you could have an offline computer with Windows XP so technically you be safe from the virus unless you pick up some random drives from the parking lot and plug it in.

Router and firewall is getting powerful now a day as well.

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

With stuff like Internet Explorer and ActiveX, it was already a hacker fest for years.
Windows XP was the OS that came with my first computer so I'm a bit nostalgic for it, I won't lie. But I've since moved on. I do my computing nowadays in between Windows 7 and Linux (Fedora, actually). Tried Windows 8 extensively and hated it, so I'll probably stick with Windows 7 until they stop supporting it, and when that time comes, I might as well replace Windows for Linux altogether.

You can find a download of the Pinball game online. I know I have it on my Windows 7 computer, along with Jezzball that came with Windows 98. Now for Chip's Challenge....

It's my second favorite OS of all time, but I won't miss it because my favorite OS of all time is Windows 7.

Oh dear, how unfortunate. We all know that the best OS was Mac OS X Tiger when it came out in 2005.

No, I'm not biased. Not biased at all!
