One of the things that I've always wondered about is Pauline of the first 1981 Donkey Kong game.
Will the original 'Damsel in Distress' from the early eighties ever be the star of the show again? I know that we all know and love both Princess Peach and Daisy but Pauline is a nice maiden as well and because she was the parasol of perfection to capture the eyes of both Donkey Kong and everyones favorite red hat plumber it seems only fitting that Pauline should have a fair corner of the market. BTW, let us not kid ourselves that Pauline is featured in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong: March of the Minis games as I'm not talking about a candy byte venture for the young lady. No, I'm talking about a big time escapade as in something along the lines of 'Super Mario Galaxy' or 'Paper Mario' in which Pauline is the center of attention folks.
So, what say you western headed young man? Will Pauline be our damsel in distress again?

Rumor has it Pauline wanted equal billing in the sequel to Donkey Kong, but producers were unwilling to pay her the raise so they brought in Donkey Kong Jr. instead. Pauline made appearances in a few made for TV movies and a couple of indie games that no one ever heard of, but her career took a downward spiral shortly thereafter and she never really worked again. Shame.
I hope not. She's more 1-dimensional than Peach, which is... quite an achievement. Probably best left in the 80's, imo her return in MvsDK was a bad choice and her character design is awful. Of course, if they can flesh out her character and make her actually interesting, then go for it. But in that regard they're probably better making an entirely new character.
A good canvas to work from this ain't. It's like all the bad bits of 80's generic-ism rolled into one barely-sentient breathing tower of flesh. They've at least offered Peach some personality over the years, but Pauline's definitely best forgotten.

I don't much care for Pauline. I never got that attached to her because, as Raylax said, she is a shallow character. I wouldn't miss her if Nintendo decided to ditch her.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Although she's vintage, I feel that Nintendo shouldn't be concerned with using her so much.
I'd like to see her in Mario Kart 3D, but I don't think she's ever leaving the Mario vs. DK franchise as anything more than just a dame.
(rant) Then again, if Nintendo actually gives her the limelight in a main Mario adventure (which we all know won't happen sometime never), then she better be someone worth saving, not that flip-flop diva you call a princess. (/rant)

ROFL! I like that rant. It was very insightful.
What Pauline needs the most is a personality with depth and a back story to help flush her out and thus she'll become someone that more people can relate to in a sense. I think that once this happens more people will like Pauline the same way they like Peach and Daisy.

Seriously, Pauline looks like she belongs on an episode of Jersey Shore more thanking a Mario game. It seems to me like they wanted her to look like a stereotypical Italian American woman. Not sure why they chose that direction, the name maybe....... whatever the reason it doesn't bode well for her future in a main Mario game.

Pauline whos is this Pauline? The only princess I know of is Princess Peach/Toadstool.
I really see no point in Pauline coming back, we've got Peach to save now. And also, Daisy? I've never seen her in any Mario Game, besides the sports series and Kart. :/
Pauline was little more than a prop to move the plot along, so who cares?
this.

IIRC She's the princess you save in Super Mario Land :3
The also used Daisy as the Princess in the SMB movie.
That don't count! For one, it's not a game and secondly that movie was god awful... and she wasn't even a princess, she was just some random woman until they went to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Also, where did Peach originate from if it was just Pauline and Daisy?
