Hi,
I was just wondering why all of you guys like Mario and why you think he is so popular? Also, what do you think Nintendo would be like without him?
I like Mario because he's a cheerful, light-hearted, lovable character!
He's the Mickey Mouse of videogames, and like the Disney mascot, has a timeless appeal. From kids to adults, you can always find someone who's a fan of the pudgy plumber and his imaginative, colorful world.
I just like how absurd he really is, he's short and fat yet his all he does is run around and jump, he treated his pet monkey named Donkey so badly it goes berserk, he's part Italian plumber-part superhero etc.

Finally! Someone who sees Mario the way I do.
Basically, Mario revived the game industry because of Super Mario Bros which itself is a great game that has aged well.

..."Mario/Nintendo is the Disney of Gaming" is a very commonly parrotted phrase. The rest are generic descriptors, but I'd still find it hard to believe you've never met anyone, online or offline, that didn't say similar things to that, especially if you frequent Nintendo sites...
