Topic: Why Does Almost Everybody Hate Super Paper Mario?

I've noticed that most of you people have strong opinions of SPM, specifically opinions of the "Not Good" variety. I would try to figure these out without making a thread, but I'm a bit lazy. So, anyone wanna explain?

i enjoyed it bt i wished it were more like the first one and thousand year door

from what i remember, the talking portions of the game were just ridiculously long. every time you think you're done talking about what you have to do next, they call you back to tell you something else. it took forever for you to move on to the next level, and i wasn't a huge fan of the Blumiere/Timpani storyline; you could see what was coming next a mile away. there were parts of it that i did like (i loved Mr. L, for example), but it was just too boring for another full playthrough.

SOO MUCH TEXT TO READ!!! Also, there were many portions of the game that got repetitive, like running on the electric generator (for way too long) and fighting similar samurai enemies (also for way too long).

I loved it so much.
It was tough but excellent.

Very good game imo.

I didn't like it because:

-They got rid of the turn-based battles
-It's way too easy
-There isn't much variety in the playable characters, and there isn't any reason to switch characters when it's not required
-You can't really replay levels
-Instead of partners, you get items, which give you one ability and can't level-up

It's not that bad, but I feel like they took away everything that made the series fun.

I loved that Game but Thousand year door was Better.

Only the same people ,who made Paper Mario and Mario RPG.
Will put it together, and Make a 3D RPG Mario Game.

I love it, it is more original than New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is awesome playing as the four characters, and flipping betwwen 2D and 3D was completly original and something fresh. Also, I liked how Nintendo mixed elements of a RPG and platformer. The main problem is that there is not much difficulty [the difficulty ramps up in the Flipside and Flopside Pits], I think there is a lot of potential for a sequel on the Wii or 3DS, hopefully Nintendo develops a sequel. As for it being better or worse than the Paper Mario RPGs, I think that is an unfair comparison. Super Paper Mario is more of a spin-off of the series, and Nintendo tried to do something different and original. It is not Paper Mario 3 [although a Paper Mario 3 would be nice]. It is ironic that NSMBW was praised by everyone [despite it be unoriginal], and Super Paper Mario recieves a more negative response [despite it being original]. At least, I have a desire to play Super Paper Mario. I tried replaying NSMBW [trying to get all the Star Coins], and I just wanted to replay Super Paper Mario all of a sudden. Then I started replaying it, and I had no desire to play NSMBW for now. I am actually replaying it right now. Besides, Super Mario Bros. 3 is still better than NSMBW.

I actually really liked it a lot. I'd say it's right up there with the first two Paper Marios.

I found it to be better than the other Paper Marios. I even feel it`s right up there with NSMBW. And Galaxy.

Paper Mario is fantastic, and Super Paper Mario was better.

I don't remember playing too much Thousand Year Door, but I think it was good.

I also actually like all of the text. The dialog is funny and great.

Yeah, i didn't hate it, it just bored the crap out of me.

I don't like any of the Paper Mario games. I actually do enjoy reading books but not while I'm playing video games.

I enjoyed it, I dunno what to say that's bad about it though. I GUESS I could say that sometimes I wished the characters would shut up for once, but then again I didn't care, I liked it. Had a lot of humor. (especially Francis, world 3 was one of my favorite levels)

Loved the Mega Star too, lol that power-up was EPIC! XD

I loved Super Paper Mario. It was fun, funny, and I liked its story.

Maybe I didn't get far enough(got to dino land or something), but I rented it and though it was pretty boring because the levels were too easy. The only part I didn't get was hitting those blocks a million times til the door opened or whatever.

With the previous two games being turn based, I don't know what Ninty were trying to do with this one. I like my turn base games damn you!

Never tried any in the series, the platforming always looks boring and I have no desire to follow a role-playing story involving the characters of the Mushroom Kingdom... They're not exactly the deepest bunch
