@RetroBrony91 Good to know someone else is as annoyed as I am about all this nonsense.

It's not fun or funny even if people are joking about it, it's getting annoying and I wish people would stop talking about it altogether.

Well, prepare to be annoyed for the rest of your life then. There's always some sort of end of the world "prophecy" or prediction going around; this is just the current one. :D

Lindsey Stirling is as awesome as She-Ra. Perhaps even more so.

Ya know, I might get drunk on Friday just to make fun of it. Even though i'm 16, I have champagne bottles in here right now, nah i'm not messing with you, the Mayans are going to regret messing with me.

this is, admittedly, the smartest idea. The Mayans have a history of getting utterly wasted (I'm not kidding) so if anything it would be upholding the culture :D anyway, on the scale of potential apocalypses, this one ranks somewhere in the middle - a select few are taking it seriously, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Great Disappointment

Basically, I learned not to take these doomsday prophecies serious by the age of 11 thanks to Y2K, my earliest recollection of one. I think most people just poke fun at this stuff, hardly anyone takes it seriously. (Or maybe I'm being overly optimistic about people.)

Don't worry, we won't die this 21st.

At least not on this timeline.

Link will get it right this time.

I'm glad someone made a thread about this without delving too much into religion or getting the thread locked for whatever reason. Yeah, I don't really believe the world will end on the 21st, I mean has anyone ever truly predicted a catastrophic event such as the end of the world? No. Simply No because it's never happened obviously. I can't seem to recall the name, but wasn't there some crazy christian radio host last year that predicted the rapture and it never came? well yeah he is a good example of these crazy people trying to scare the entire world into thinking we're all gonna die, without backing up with any actual scientific proof.
I actually know of a local example in my area that often goes around town with a blue apron vest with a donation bucket and notices about "the forthcoming rapture/apocalyspe", boy I just want to walk up to him and tell him how crazy he is, he never relents and i'm sure he does this schtick all year round in his free time.

I hope this doesn't get in trouble for the religious mention (I am in no way attacking any particular religion or sharing my religious views), but that guy that predicted the rapture last year, after he was wrong, stated that he did the calculations wrong and gave another day further into the year (which, obviously, was also wrong). He thankfully gave up the doomsday prophesizing, clearly it was not something he was good at, but yeah, as long as humanity will exist, there will be people crying that the world will end. There is no reason to believe the world will last forever, but my guess is that it will be a gradual decline, the human race probably will be long gone by the time the sun goes out or a meteor destroys the earth or something. Either way, it definitely isn't something that will just suddenly happen someday. :-p

Only Noah, but I'm not sure if a flood counts as an "end of the world" event.

And we're not even sure of this. Theres no solid proof of it. So, probably not.
