Harvest Moon is way more boring. There is no sense of exploration and adventure like Zelda. Though some people find great satisfaction in daily repetition. Now when I say repetitive, I'm talking about the gameplay of Harvest Moon, not Zelda games lately...
They are both equally boring in my eyes and I'm not just saying that for comic effect.
Although I had played Zelda before I didn't bother to buy a Zelda game until OOT arrived on the VC, I got about 1/2 way through, stopped playing it and have never been inclined to finish it. As for Harvest moon whilst I love Simulation and micro management games this just isn't my cup of tea.
Just my opinion peeps and that is probably wrong, I hope it doesn't make you think less of me.
I'd take any harvest moon over Zelda. I love the life simulation, of slowly watching the farm grow and expand, the character relationship building, and the visual style of almost all of the games.
What a bizarre question. I still haven't gotten around to playing Rune Factory yet--so my viewpoint is somewhat out of date regarding the Harvest Moon series--but Zelda is infinitely more exciting and engaging than any simple farming / domestication / marriage game. Take one generation and compare: how could anyone compare Wind Waker's expansive world to Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life? Well, I suppose some people hate sailing, but I'd expect that more hate farming.
Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense. Wii FC: 8378 9716 1696 8633 || "How can mushrooms give you extra life? Get the green ones." -
That's the thing, though - they're not simple games at all. Initially they were, but in recent iterations they've gained all sorts of little intricacies that elevate it above the simplistic. I completely agree it's not a straightforward comparison, but then there's not really anything like Harvest Moon out there to compare it to. Sorry.
Harvest Moon isn't exactly a farming simulator either, any more than Sim City is a city management simulator. It takes the more entertaining elements from the job and packages them up in a digestable and entertaining format.
You couldn't pay me enough to be a farmer with all the money in the world, but I'll gladly shell over for each new HM.
The Legend of Zelda is one of the most critically and commercially successful game series in history, second only to the Mario series. It has many iconic games, some of which, A Link To The Past, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, are amongst the very finest individual games of all time.
"snooze fest" is a quote from me. To be honest I wasn't being completely serious, though neither game series appeals to me due to the time investment required in each of them. I have played one Zelda game at least and I credit the designers with continuing to keep me engaged right when I was about to throw in the towel. I also hope the next Zelda will be something special and hype me up for it. It's a wonderful time to be gaming!
Well, you can't say which one is more boring because the games are completely different. Besides Run Factory, the Harvest Moon franchise has almost nothing in common with Zelda and vice-versa. It's more about personal preference than anything else.
...but if I had to choose, I'd say that Harvest Moon is more boring than Zelda, but again; personal opinion.
