Topic: When can you call yourself an advanced gamer

Here's my question when do you think you can call yourself or someone else an advanced gamer.

When you can beat ET.

how comfortable are you just jumping into any game at random and not totally sucking at it (e.g. actually making decent progress off the bat instead of dying every five seconds)? i'd call that an 'advanced gamer'.

Probably the key factors are gaming experience -- how long you've been playing games, the extent of variety in your gaming-genres played -- as well as your general skill level like TBD said.

ET is not hard to beat. Just a chore.

Why would you want to?

When you can beat Icaragua.
Wait, that's when you can call yourself an insane person.
Probably when you know where all of the buttons are on a controller.

When you can spell Ikaruga correctly.

When you can beat Superman 64.

When you play GBA.

Anytime you want. Others don't have to believe you though...

Hahaha well, at least five years of consistent experience seems like the easiest way too judge

I'd have to agree 100% with TBD. Any game thrown at you that you can get the hang of (depending on the game), in a short amount of time and do good or higher at, then you got yourself an advanced gamer.
Like me.

A game that you would have to beat and would have the right to call yourself an advanced gamer is... Blaster Master on the NES.

When you can get the best ending on at least 5 games. Or beat a game on the hardest difficulty. Or when you become an MLG. Or when you get a life and actually do something instead of noob at Halo 3 every day.
