Pretty much this. I also like how accessible they are and how great they play after all these years. I also love Double Dash!! because of its huge character roster and its fantastic co-op. I hope one day two characters can be in the same kart again.
1. Super Mario Kart 2. Mario Kart 64 3. Mario Kart: Super Circuit 4. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! 5. Mario Kart DS 6. Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 7. Mario Kart Wii
With any luck, Mario Kart 3DS will be a favourite of mine too! MARIO KART FOR THE EPIC WIN!!!!

Easily Mario Kart DS, it had the best tracks of the series. I was very surprised to see that the Wii version didn't use many of them.. it also suffered from the power ups being very unbalanced. It's been like that in many of the games, but the blue shells in the Wii version were far too frequent. A bit of randomness and luck is fine, but it basically removed ALL skill from the game.
Loved Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 back in the day, but they really get praise based on nothing but nostalgia.
Mario 64 and DD. DD brought a lot of strategy into the game.

Super Mario Kart, no blue shells and not even nearly as cheap as MKWii, as SMK takes skill, while in MKW it feels like it's just luck to not get hit by Thunderclouds and blue shells.
Double Dash hands down. It's because you could attack without an item(slide attack), use unique items to each character, had to choose karts based on your character choices, use mini shortcuts and you could dodge red shells if you were really good on your timing and spike shells if you were good and lucky.
1. Mario Kart Wii 2. Mario Kart DS 3. Mario Kart: Double Dash 4. Super Mario Kart 5. Mario Kart 64 6. Mario Kart: Super Circut
I don't care if it's slightly unfair. I loved the tracks (don't know why many didn't) and the online and playing with friends is fantastic. DS is well balanced and has great tracks. The online is meh but at least it has it. Double Dash was basically my childhood. Lots of fun. Super Mario Kart is nicely balanced but I think it's a bit boring. I can't stand the controls in Mario Kart 64, and IMO it's just ugly today. Super Circut I just don't like all that much. Sorry.

Mario Kart: Double Dash. The tracks, each character having there own special move, the strategy introduced with being able to choose 2 racers. I use to play that game SO much and still love it till death.
