Never mind, I just bought all of them a few hours ago and I've been playing them. Its been a long long long time since I've played them, so I decided to just play through on one continue in each game without purposely trying to get 1ups and without using warps. I only played the original NES games though since I didn't wanna bother breaking out the Classic Controller.
What I found was, The original SMB gave my play skills a good workout, I got to the end of World 6 before I got game over. Its the little things you take for granted like being able to scroll the screen left and more jump control that had me in trouble for parts of the game and during Bowser's castle.
SMB2 was very fun, again I got pretty far into the game before losing all my lives. The graphics looked so much better in my memories, bosses were easy.
For SMB3, I honestly remembered the game being a lot harder. You gain 1ups like mad without even trying and I just remembered it being a lot more challenging. I beat the game, 1st play though, all levels.
Makes me feel like I chose the right Mario game as my favorite, SMB2J. I like a challenge and it doesn't officially get more challenging than Lost Levels. I feel like the later games give you too many breaks with better play control and freebies.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
gren may not have explained it, but I think I know what's going on: a half-point is comprised of one vote. Say, Super Mario 64 received 5 points, that would mean that ten users considered it their favorite. Of course, it seems like it to me (after all, I'm the only one that mentioned Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, so why else would it get a half-point?).
I find it absolutely weird that gren (the OP) did not answer Ricardo's year-old question.
