Topic: What's Going to be the Hot Gaming Item this Holiday Season?

I was just watching the local news (NBC station), and they reported that Toys R Us is saying that the Playstation Vita & the LeapPad are expected to be the big gaming items this year.

So, what gaming items do you think are going to be the hot sellers?

With its current state, this would be surprising.
But not unwelcome.

If advertising is done well, the Wii U.
If it counts, the iPhone 5.
If more good games are releases, then we can make a passing mention to the Vita.

Personally, I would love the Vita to do better, but given it's current state, I found the declaration of Vita as a hot item to be a suprise (with ACIII:Liberation, LBP Karting, and an upcoming COD, I can see where they're coming from, though).

I was really surprised that there wasn't even a passing mention of the Wii U (or even 3DS) in their report however. It's kinda worrying, as a Nintendo fan.

I never even heard of the LeapPad either, until now.

I'm getting the new Furby. The Wii U will just have to wait.

Karting doesn't look too promising sales wise, plus the fact it was released the same day as Halo 4. AC:Liberation may be undermined due to the fact it doesn't look different from AC:3 and most people would rather just get 3 over it if they had to choose.
New COD? Perfect, millions of sales guaranteed.
But on a handheld? I'm holding my breath.

^I'm not saying those games are all going to be good, but they do have the big names (and they showed a lot of them in the report, which is why I brought them up in the first place).

Skylanders: Giants will sell millions I bet, along with many more million figures that you can buy for it.
CoD:BO2 is going to sell a lot of units, I mean. It's CoD, why wouldn't it sell?
Maybe the Wii U with New Super Mario Bros. U if the bright ad gets the attention of littile kiddies.
And if anything I would guess that the Vita will be the lowest selling game console this holliday season, I wonder what those guys at Toys R Us are smoking... [sub](or how much money they're getting from Sony.)[/sub[

PS Vita? Really? I mean I'd like to believe so but it won't.

I'm not even mentioning Wii U, too easy. In terms of games, AC3 is basically set up as this year's Skyrim. In other words, the big AAA game that everyone wants to buy.

Vita's had some good Black Friday deals from what I've been seeing.

But for hardware obviously Wiiu. Software, probably AC3, Black Ops 2, maybe Halo 4

LeapPad > Vita

In all seriousness, though, the Wii U will be the thing to have.

to me it will be a mix of xbox since it has halo 4,cod2 and ac3 and wii u for its console release and new mario game

PS move and Kinect might shift 1 or 2 units maybe 3 but those figures are just a wild hallucinatory prediction

I don't know about the WiiU, mainly because there might be a lot of places that simply won't have it, at least with the way the pre-orders are going in the US.
I really hope the Vita does well. If it does then I'll buy one, since I know that publishers will actually put games onto the system in the future if there's a better install base. However, a lot of the big exclusive games seem to be pretty dissapointing, and the sales for the system right now aren't too hot either, at least according to some of my friends that work at Gamestop. Holiday season has already started, and the Vita's are still just sitting there. Thankfully, there will be some Black Friday sales, but I'm holding my breath.

In terms of games, it's actually pretty easy to guess. Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed III, Borderlands 2, Dishonored (surprised me until I saw the christmas lists of all of the kids in my youth group. They all want it, and I'll probably get it around then too), probably Pokemon Black/White 2 and a bunch of Kinects, sadly enough.

If the ipod touch 5 counts, then that will sell better than pretty much any system during this time. Just saying. In terms of hardware, the Xbox 360 will probably outsell the PS3 and Wii in the US, if the sales the system has been getting over the past several months is any indication.

Pogs are going to make a comeback. I know it.

The X-Box 360 willl be droping in price soon, and its pretty much the same as a Wii U, just with better games.
