Topic: What was your last beer?

Pretty simple question. In the interest of this thread seeing a natural and fitting end, let’s try to refrain from stories of drunken revelry and/or debauchery lest we incriminate ourselves in any way. As much as we all might enjoy a highly detailed tale of over zealous behavior, let’s do our best to stick somewhere within the vicinity of the topic at hand, which is celebrating beer. All types of beer. Since beer is an ancient, inclusive, and unifying force for good, let’s include any beverage which has undergone some level of fermentation with alcohol as a by product as our definition of beer. Thanks to @antdickens for reading my query, and taking the time to respond.

Stiegl Radler. I typically enjoy them as the first few beers to kick off a beer drinking session, and they’re my go to beverage for AM drinking when the opportunity arises, which isn’t often any more. They’re super refreshing tonight as I worked quite a bit outside today, and they’re cutting my thirst quite well. Cheers.

I had an Oatmeal Stout by Hyde and Wilde, a "craft" beer series in cans made by a brewery called Marston's on behalf of Sainsbury's, a large UK supermarket chain. Pretty terrible, as with everything else in the series. I don't understand a supermarket putting money to produce pseudo-craft own label beer, other than cheapness of course.

Last beer I had was a Kirin Draft beer. Not my usual choice, but it is what the restaurant had.

Well, I haven't drunk it yet, seeing as I'm still alive and all that...

But in all seriousness, if people take into account that this guy here is living in Amsterdam, then they can probably do the math of "what beer" I drink...

I rarely drink anything other than that famous beer, except for the occasional radler in the summer seasons, and tasting/trying the odd special beer every now and then, or when there's simply no other beer than the local beer, such as on certain holiday locations...

The last beer I drank? Bud Light Platinum. I am not a big fan of Budweiser usually drink Heineken or Sierra Nevada but Bud Light Platinum is a guilty pleasure. But I split a couple of twelve packs with some friends and family on the 4th.

Stella. My wife bought a case on sale. I enjoy it as nice, light weeknight drinker. Funny that it was once a beer for special occasions, but now it’s almost anywhere with more than a few taps where I’ve been in the US.

@ogo79 - Be honest, you were disqualified from the conversation at “beer” because your last beverage was a purple drank, am I right?

@gortsi - This happens with some regularity here, and the results are almost always gross. When I lived in a town with a Trader Joe’s, they had their own brand called Simpler Times. It was so bad, but it was $2.99 a sixer, so I drank it more than I would have liked. They must be able to buy it for pennies on the gallon when they cut a deal like that.

@ThanosReXXX - Heiniken and Newcastle were my first two steps out of American macro beer. I’m done with Newcastle mostly, we had a nice run, but I still enjoy a Heineken from time to time. I was always a fan of the steel keg cans. They can get near ice cold packed in a cooler. I’ve had more than my fair share of the 22 oz bottles as well. I swear, for some reason, the best tasting Heini comes in those big bottles. They have the highest green glass, Heineken skunk funk levels in my opinion.

@Tasuki - Nothing wrong with an ice cold macro beer. I enjoy a Budweiser from time to time.

I guess a Feldschlösschen Radler naturtrüb (=naturally cloudy lemonade-beer mix).

Other than that I like Lößnitz Pils, Vier Vogel Pils, Maisel's Pale Ale, Störtebeker Atlantic Ale.
I also like Kölsch, the beer people in Cologne brew and drink. It doesn't taste like much, which I like. The Czech beer sometimes comes rather close, I guess.

When I was in Scotland I loved the IPAs they had there. Fortunately this became a trend in Germany too since the British IPAs are hardly affordable (especially here, but also over there, incredible how expensive drinking is over there!).

I also love Cider, if that kind of counts. Bulmers is my favorite, since I learned about Cider first, when I was in Ireland. And there I drank Bulmers. Magners is good too. Strongbow is oookay. Merrydown is undrinkable.
And all the artificially flavored ones are undrinkable too.

These were the last ones that I tried in the past 1.5 months. I only try them when a sample can is thrown my way from the beer reps while I'm working. I'm not a drinker and don't go out of my way to do so.

Well, I've only got a few bottles of Brand IPA sitting in my fridge at the moment, the summer season usually beckons me towards a cold white or rosé wine. But when I do partake in beer (which, admittedly, is still quite often) I find myself drawn more to white beers like Gulpener Korenwolf or Hoegaarden Wit when the sun's out. Any other time I'm all over IPA's; I love me some of those hoppy, citrussy brews. Brewdog's Punk IPA, Vedett IPA and -nice and local- Ebontree's Ebon IPA rank among my favourites.

Weirdest beer I've drank recently has to be Hog's Back Montezuma's Chocolate lager. It's... well, what the name says, really. Chocolate beer. Quite refreshing with strong, sweet notes of chocolate and vanilla. Not one I'd have on the reg, but a nice change of pace from my usual palette.

A bit longer ago I recieved a bottle of St. Bernardus Abt 12 (the Magnum Edition 2013), a beer celebrated by critics that supposedly ranks among the finest in the world. Very cool special edition bottle as well: http://www.sintbernardus.be/stbernardusabt12magnumedition2013...

The beer in the bottle didn't last long, but I did keep the bottle as a nice little display item.

I don't even remember

I'm trying to keep track and I've had about a new one every day for the past year. But I also brew my own, so let's just say all of that is for ''research purposes''!

We have drinks at work last thing on a Friday and we're getting to the back of the fridge again. So I had some random wheat beer, don't remember what it was.

I prefer cider myself but the last beer I had was Red Stripe, a Jamaican beer and also my favourite to drink.

The best beer I've had is probably the steins I drank at Munich for Oktoberfest.

@bimmy-lee do you know of an app called untappd? I use it to catalog every single beer I have these days, and it's free.

@bimmy-lee Yup, the big, aka normal-sized bottles are the best, along with the regular cans. Although half liter cans will also do just nicely...
