Topic: What was Nintendo Life like in the Begining?

I know that before it became Nintendo Life It was a virtual console review site. I joined in July of this year ( I've been reading articles here since 2011, but couldn't figure out how to make an e-mail ) So I've always wondered what it was like in the first few years of this sites existence. Was it like Pushsquare and PureXBOX now, very few comments on articles and threads, or did it grow and expand very quickly?

Sure @Big_Boy_Chubs, I can tell you what Nintendo Life was like in the beginning.

:steps to center stage:

Lights, please.

And there were in the same country several websites, abiding on the internet, keeping watch over Nintendo's physical and digital releases. And, lo, the angel James Newton came upon them, and the glory of his pigtails shone round about them. And they were sore afraid. And the angel James Newton said unto them, “Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to unite all of these websites. For unto you is born this day in the city of London a single site, which is Nintendo Life. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the Nintendo Download press release, lying in your inbox.” And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of grateful commenters praising the site, and saying, “Glory to James in the Highest, and to Dazza and Damien and Thomas, and on the internet peace, and good will toward Nintendo."

That’s what Nintendo Life was like in the beginning, @Big_Boy_Chubs.

It was basically the joining of two sites that were both owned by the same people: VC-World and Wiiwareworld. The focus on reviewing every digital release meant that both sites got considerable traffic, as they were the most consistent sites when it came to coverage of Nintendo's downloadable services. To make things more centralized, Nintendolife was formed. Since accounts transferred right over, Nintendolife actually had considerable traffic right from the start.

Things haven't actually changed too much, at least in terms of structure. The site layout and forums have made some small changes, but overall it hasn't changed much. (I consider that a good thing, since it shows how strong the original layout was).
In terms of staff, well... James isn't with us anymore...

I thought NintendoLife already existed, and that it simply absorbed VC-Reviews and WiiWare World.

I vaguely remember people asking if it was an April Fool's joke, because the merger happened on April 1. (2009? 2010?)

Ah yes, the before times. Back then I was simply an observer to NL's endocytosis. I actually took some pictures
