OS X here as well: (1) for the greatly improved productivity it offers through the most streamlined UI on the planet (all those little details like 2-finger scrolling on my laptop, smooth integration of Spaces and Expose, etc), (2) for the UNIX backbone that allows me to play with all the various scripting and web languages I use, and the free XCode ain't bad either.

Mac all the way for me too. The Windows interface is too clogged up for my liking, and those bloody desktop popups! Not really tried any of the other OSs though, I must admit.

I switch between Windows Vista and Ubuntu/Kubuntu daily thanks to my husband's obsession with Linux. While I don't really notice much of a difference between Ubuntu and Kubuntu (gnome vs. kde isn't a big thing for me), the Linux boxen are so uncluttered and refreshing to use compared to Vista, and I like not having to constantly worry about viruses and those 'OMG there's a problem in My Computer!!!1' ads or popups that sometimes show up in firefox, lol...
However, Vista (obviously) runs Windows-based programs with ease (as opposed to emulation via wine), I have little problem with compatibility between the Vista computer's text files and outside computers' text files (i tried doing my resume in OpenOffice... yeah, that didn't go so well when I opened the file under Vista; god only knows what those prospective employers saw D: ) and also supports certain peripherals (Nintendo Wi-Fi Adapter, configuration as a wireless access point with proper antenna dongle) that a Linux-based system can't at the moment. I also trust the Vista system when it comes to burning CDs/DVDs. as opposed to Ubuntu (which I had a major problem with re: some important backups at one point... sigh).
in short, i don't really have a favorite, but if i did, it wouldn't be Mac OS X (tried that for a couple months on a business trip and hated every second of it).

Yeah! More Vista haters! For me, the only reason for not choosing a Mac is because they're simply too expensive, but from what I've tried and seen, it looks very interesting. For now though, I am forced to stick with Ubuntu (since Vista is pretty much unusable).

I'm a windows guy. I think Vista works great. I don't know what everyone's problem is. I don't like Mac OS because everything is too different. Not that I don't like different. But it's like it's different just for the sole purpose of saying "HA! We're not Windows!" and it gets annoying. Besides, I've never had a problem with popups or viruses or anything annoying like that which people complain about because of Windows. Personally I find navigating Mac OS annoying to no end. I'm just not used to it, and it's not really as different as it tries to be.
