Topic: What movie series reboot would you like to see next?

In recent years there have been a lot of new installments to old series, and re-imaginings of old movies (Die Hard, Rocky, Rambo, Indiana Jones, Toy Story, The Terminator, The Pink Panther, Tron, Astro Boy..)
What would you like to see next? Or, do you hate it when directors do stuff like that?

I wouldn't mind seeing another Ghostbusters or Back to the Future movie, even if it's with a different cast.

Back to the Future. It would be nowhere near as good as the original of course, but I can't get enough Back to the Future

Ditto. There's too little originality these days (So many sequels, adaptations, remakes, reboots etc...) and a lot of the time, rebooted old series turn out badly, so I'd rather they left them and moved onto fresh new ground but knowing hollywood, that'll never happen.

This is why I've turned to Asian cinema in the last few years. You get a fair few adaptations sure (Anime/Manga in particular) but there's so many quality, original films out there

NONE.

I'm getting sick of all these damn reboots.
one in particular that's got me annoyed is the Spider-man Reboot that's being made.
The last movie only came out in 2007. that's just barely four years ago. You don't reboot a series that isn't even that old yet.
There was nothing wrong with the first one. Why the hell are we rebooting it? I hope the new one bombs hard.
Why don't we just reboot all my favorite movies?

Star wars
Back to the Future
Gremlins
Ghostbusters
Goonies
Karate Kid (Oh wait they already did this one)
Heck let's just go nuts and remake all these?

I hate Hollywood.

No offense but I am confused are you talking about reboots or sequels to existing series. The movies you listed Die Hard, Rambo, Rocky, Indiana Jones, Toy Story and Terminator were all sequels to existing series.

A reboot would be like Batman Begins and Dark Knight, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Star Trek Which is the beginning of a new series without a connection to the older series.

Anyways if you are talking Reboots personally I am getting tired of them. There are some movies that dont need reboots but they insist on them like the upcoming Spiderman movie.

As for sequels I would like to see a fourth in the Ghostbuster series (The third one was the video game that came out a few years ago).

Actually they are making a Ghostbusters 3 movie. It's supposed to start filming in may of next year.
Dan Aykroyd himself confirmed it. All the original Ghosbusters are coming back too. Maybe even sigourney weaver.
My hopes for it aren't real high though.

i don't mind remakes at all. sure they bomb a lot, but i can always watch the old ones if I want. I was very excited about the idea of redoing nightmare on elm street, but for some reason they gave it to someone trying to direct his first movie. rob zombie's halloween was awesome, and goes to show that if you actually put effort into your remake it can be good. I kind of think horror is the ideal genre for remakes, since some of the scares back in the day are kind of laughable. How about a well done jaws remake by a good director. good actors and good camera work and nice quiet moments on the ocean, but with a shark and death scenes that don't make you laugh. just keep michael bay and his remake company away.

A Series of Unfortunate Events. I loved the books, and I really enjoyed the movie. I've read that the movie made enough money from its theatrical run and DVD sales to warrant a sequel, but Paramount put it on hold. I recently heard rumors of rebooting the series, and switching from live action to stop motion animation. I'm really hoping this happens!

I am talking about sequels to existing series. That's why it's called a series reboot, because you revive an old series and keep it going.

@grenworthshero Actually a reboot is restarting the series from scratch, usually with a different direction from the original. Not just a sequel or a prequel but pretty much an "alternate universe" of the original, so to speak. A long-awaited sequel is just a sequel.

Batman Begins, Battlestar Galactica (2004 TV series), Star Trek (2009), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV series), James Bond 007: Casino Royale (2006) are all reboots of their original franchises.

Makes sense to me. When you reboot your computer, you restart it. It clears out its memory and starts up anew. That's what they do with series reboots too - throw away the old continuity and start fresh.

Yeah I heard something like that last I heard Aykroyd wasnt happy with the script and the went back to rewriting it again. I also heard that not only are the original actors going to be back but so is Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver. Rick Moranis said he might come out of retirement for this one but still isnt 100% sure. From what I read also is that they are going to be training new recruits and that Aykroyd said he would love to see a female Ghostbuster.

As for the Videogame I believe that goes with the continuity of the the movies at least thats what Dan Aykroyd has said on numerous occasions.

@Grenworthshero: Lol np it can be confusing but yeah the definition that HolyMackerel gave is the correct definition for reboot. I was confused cause the title of the thread said what "reboot" do you want to see and than you list a bunch of sequels. Its all good though.

I'd like to see an Aliens sequel. I can never get enough of those.

13th Warrior was just chock-full of awesome, but I'm not sure what they could do if they decided to do a sequel. If they could swing it, I'd be down with watching it.

How about a live-action reboot of Thunder Cats? And while we're at it, a reboot of SWAT Cats! Ooh, and then maybe they'll finally make a Star Fox movie or TV show, but it better have Krystal in it, or I ain't buyin'.

I've heard Alien prequel is on its way. And Im glad to see Im not the only one who liked 13th Warrior.

In any case, Im not a big fan of reboots either. A lot of times it just feels like they dont bother coming up with a new idea. If you really want to remake something, pick up something really old that really needs to be made more modern.
