Yeah I hate all that spamming lately. Makes me mad because they haven't tried a REAL product yet. guys, it's just a fad. a couple years ago it was e-mail addresses ending in @.pl, that was a huge spam fad, then last year inserting links into forum profiles/signatures and not posting anything was all the rage (on sites that had public profiles, like ours, it would result in more google hits for their crap). right now, apparently they're getting aggressive and as soon as they sign up they pound the main site with comments. It happens.

I've made some suggestions to Ant, we had a fix in place a couple days ago but then they changed things up so that our fix no longer works. it's okay, we'll work something out to take out these jerks before they bother anyone, but in the meantime, we very much appreciate not only your patience but your understanding as it may take us a bit to get back to our computers and delete the comments in question.

by the way — in cases of this, where one obvious spammer has posted multiple comments, just report ONE of them and move on, please. we have ways of finding the rest of their posted content and we will delete it as soon as we can. we greatly appreciate you bloodhounds who report every single piece of spam a bot has ever posted, but multiply that by four or five and i'm sure you can imagine the mess we have to wade through in our inboxes. :3

Why don't you guys add a CAPTCHA?

@sak904: Ant told me a while back that the reason we don't use them is because they're too easily thwarted.

Hmm. Google's ReCAPTCHA works pretty well for most sites. If anything, wouldn't it be a bit of a road block for them?

OK, I'm curious - do you guys have a "nuke" button where it'll delete a user and all of its posts and permaban that email address with a single click?

@Jaz007: if you've only noticed one, thank your lucky stars — over the past week we've banned more than a few of these jerks. it's only started happening recently. :3

Don't you guys have automated bots that give spammers (ect) warnings for breaking the rules?
