Topic: What is the point of Twitter?

Okay, so Twitter is just like Facebook, or Myspace, or LiveJournal, or whatever else...except the ONLY thing it has is status updates...and that's a good thing? I don't see the point, or the reason for the hype. Someone enlighten me.

LiveJournal? Never heard of that one.

Here's the breakdown for you:

Facebook: Stalk your ex
Twitter: Stalk Celebrities
Myspace: Stalk Underage girls

So there you have it.

I don't like any other websites except MySpace. Don't know why they just don't Intrest me.

I don't see the point of Twitter either. It's almost useless... I've no idea how the *** this became a hype.

Twitter is for self obsessed attention seekers who haven't made it onto, or don't want to be on Big Brother & the like.

Twitter is highly uninteresting to me. I don't see the point, really. I'm perfectly happy with my Facebook account, thank you very much.

Twitter is for people to tell others what they are doing. And I use it as do my friends to communicate, and am not a twit stalker.

Twitter is facebook minus the bloat. I only ever use facebook for its status updates so I can quickly tell my friends (not randoms) stuff that I want to tell them. Or show them links to something I found on the net, or a pic of something that I saw that was interesting, or a song that I am currently liking. That's the point of both Facebook and Twitter for me except I seem to have more "non-close" friends on facebook and people like to do quizes and join groups on facebook.

Like I said at the start.... Twitter is Facebook minus the bloat.

I follow random people all the time! Especially the ones with names that sound attractive. One day I hope I will belong somewhere

I hate the name, so I've never considered using it. Facebook is enough for me. A twitter sounds like those little muscle spasms you get around your eye lid when you drink too much caffeine.

Twitter is atcully pretty good during the 2008 presidental elections it was used by protesters to doucment riots and set places to meet. it was also pivotal in showing thta President Almadinajad had rigged the election in his favor even though his oppent did win. SO twitter can be used as a good social tool, TIME magazine aslo proved this buy haveing a whole confrence through twitter as an expierment. Facebook is used for socail networking which is good for people in political postions to use to tell thier stace but twitter can be used as a faster up to date tool to give news.

Using Token Girl's analytical breakdown of these sites, I've determined which one is for me.

I'm off to Myspace to make an account as I write this.

Usually I wouldn't take the extra time, as I'm sure almost everyone here knows I'm just kidding, but I don't know, I just didn't want someone new to the site think I was actually serious on this one...better safe than sorry, I guess.

We never needed Twitter or Facebook before, and we certainly don't need it now.

Nobody needs it, your right, but a lot of people find it entertaining.
