People really didn't understand this thread, did they? The most IMPORTANT [EXISTING] band in the world TODAY. So not neccessarily your favorite band, but the group you think is the most innovative and important in the world of music--today.

Fair enough, @Kid_A has been clear on the specifics of this thread, however all of the bands I listen to today follow a tradition of taking inspiration from past greats and current peers. There is not one band in my genre of music (punk, alternative, indie rock) existing today, which is notably innovative or important enough in the world of music to warrant mention under such a huge set of requirements. The majority of existing bands I listen to (from Lifetime to The Lemonheads and Dillinger Four to The Weakerthans), simply knock out a cracking tune, with a passion and make for a mighty fine gig night out. The only band I can think of is The Pogues, they are still gigging and therefore still exist (just!), their songs sound like a mix of traditional folk, poetry, with a sprinkling of punk attitude and grunt, to me. Listening to them there is innovation, in the way they mix their influences. However they have not recorded recently enough to be included either, like lots of older bands, they just play a live circuit. I'll have to sit this one out. I will check back in on it, just to gauge what other tastes Nintendo Life users have in music. Cheers.
I am passionate about retro gaming, from antiquated consoles to the continuation of classics. Obviously I love PSone, and PS2 retro games. I blast my ears to breakneck melodic punk, gruff vocals and nimble alternative guitar hooks.
V_V' ^82 & 91 One question, if you don't mind my asking: WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????????????????????
The Killers are probably the most important band in the world right now. They are the band that can headline a big show or festival, who are relevant, and really pull it off. I saw Radiohead headline Glastonbury in the UK and they were a huge dissapointment, I don't think most people truly care about them anymore.
