I decided to download Lost Levels, Kid Icarus, and Castlevania III on VC. They are all a blast but they are just killing me. and now I wanna download Musha, which looks like more of the same equation. Yay for fun yet impossible games!
I remember Double Dragon 3 being pretty hard for NES. I think it was one life and game over? Can't quite remember. It's been a long time. I remember Ghostbusters on the NES being pretty hard as well.
Pokemon Puzzle Leauge / N64 On the hardest mode its just brutal to beat. Still did it though
Valkyria Chronicles / PS3 I have this issue in SRPG's where if you let a character die in battle you lose them permanantly. So whenever I lose a character I restart the battle >.> But even not counting that the game is still very difficult
those are just 2 I can think of, Yeah I've played and finished alot more games over the years, Such as all the Megaman games and Super Mario: Lost Levels, But they just dont seem to be that difficult to me
Mario Vs DK: Mini's March Again FC: 2536-1302-1333
Battletoads (NES) is much harder than the SNES version. I'm going to add that 8 Eyes (NES) is one of the hardest games created, mostly poor design there though
This is gonna sound very risque, but Breath of Fire I for the GBA was the hardest RPG I've beaten. It's an RPG with hard bosses from beginning to end. I like challenge, and I like the music. The plot is also well crafted.

I stand to my opinion. Battletoads (NES) is not even close as difficult as Battletoads in Battlemaniacs. Try to play that game in two player mode and you'll want to throw the controller at the TV.
The Ooze on Sonic Mega Collection Plus is by far the hardest game I own. It was horrifically painful even with the save states the collection provides. Runners up are single player Half-Life: Decay, and Mega Man 9.
What's that? The sequel to Ikaruga taking place in the tropics?
My hardest is probably Ninja Gaiden for the NES, but Sin & Punishment, SMB: The Lost Levels, Final Fantasy III, Mega Man 9, Fantasy Zone, any Gradius game, and most Castlevania games are all close contenders.

Ah well, never played it two-player but I've played both since about the time each came out, and while I beat Battletoads in Battlemaniacs in less than a month, I haven't been able to beat Battletoads to this day, even with warps. I think I find the sequel easier because you can get so many extra lives from the bonus stages.
Good topic. From my own experience of hard games. Cant pick the hardest.
1. Super Ghouls N Ghosts 2. F zero GX 3. Ikaruga 4. Super Mario Bros Lost Levels 5. Alien Soldier 6. Metal Slug 3 7. Battle Garegga 8. Radiant Silvergun 9. Last Resort 10. Samurai Showdown 3
The ones that I named were the games that I've beaten (out of many). Final Fantasy VI is a hard RPG, that I've yet to beat, but I've still far to go. Great game.
Super Ghouls'n Ghosts is hard, but not as hard as everyone makes it out to be, imo. I once played it so many times because of how much I loved the challenge that it offered. In fact, I'm one of the few who thinks Super Ghouls'n Ghosts is a medium-difficult type game, with a few challenging points. Best Capcom game ever, imo (I haven't played Demon's Crest yet, but I heard that it was good).
