Got spotted in ihop and Terre Haute brewing company. Both people were cool and gamers themselves. Everyone else didn’t bat an eye

Had some people glance over and watch if they're sitting close by but no words yet. Oddly enough this reminds me when I picked up a used Pokemon Omega Ruby was playing it on the bus I had a guy next time ask about that.

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

I have played on the train, and at cafes but people haven't shown anymore or less interest than if I were just using an iPad. My friend however had his stolen right out of his bag on a really busy train, so people do take notice. But the same thing could happen with an iPad or laptop.

I play on the London commuter trains from time to time - people mostly don't bat an eyelid. One (very drunk) woman asked if it was a PSP, but that's about it. I have bumped into a couple of other Switch owners on the train, and got chatting with one. There's definitely a Nintendo community feel with it.

@FinalFrog Yeah, I wouldn't take my Switch out in public if I lived in Detroit either.

My Switch hasn't left the house, maybe it will when I go on my next long train journey. Even with my 3DS I was careful when I would take it outside, mostly because it is expensive but also because I'm a little paranoid with keeping my consoles in good condition. I wouldn't use a console if I've handled any food or money until I've washed my hands, that's just how my brain works. I haven't seen any Switches out in the wild but there are still the occasional 3DS user on the train.

I think I'm hesitant to take it outside because it's a home console, so I feel like I would have more to lose if something was to happen to it. Maybe if I ever need to commute I would think about it but a 11 minute train journey isn't worth it.

@ogo79 Wow , I just saw the Punisher gif you put up and didn't know there was an old skool Punisher game. I looked it up and what seems more weird is Nick Fury is player 2 in it.

@Kimyonaakuma
If something happens to your handheld (3ds) you still have your home console. If something happens to your switch you are now without a handheld OR a home console.
@Ralizah
Im in border city Texas not Detroit but yeah. Ive seen some bad cities where I wouldnt take my switch out. Detroit is dirty and gross and dangerous . Buffalo isnt as dangerous but jeez it's so dirty and gross you'll have to clean the film off your switch.

@Kimyonaakuma: I'm very similar to you when it comes to the treatment of my systems these days, though that somewhat depends on how new the machine is. Let's just say you can tell which of my legacy systems were owned by kid me vs. adult me. XD (Hint: The shells) I'm also a klutz to boot.

I almost took my 3DS with me on my last plane trip but didn't, mainly since you have to unpack it a la TSA regulations when going through security (I HATE security). Heck, even having my old phone sliding around in the who-knows-where-it-has-been bin made my skin crawl.

Edit: My handheld systems DO leave the house from time to time, but as mentioned earlier in the thread, public transportation isn't much of a thing here. I really only feel the need to bring them on long trips...which don't happen that much.

If I was at an airport, and someone wanted race me in mk8 while waiting for a plane, I'd do it, but I'm not sure anyone else is that friendly.
