Hello.
This is my first time to start a discussion about your habit when you are playing Nintendo Switch.
Have you ever taken your Switch go outside and let other people knew about Nintendo Switch existence and how did they react ?
Please feel free to share your experiences about Outdoor Switch gaming experiences.
Pardon of my horrible English.

They invite me to roof parties and petty ladies talk to me in the bus.

I don't actually play the switch outdoors in public. It's too big to lug around and I don't want to get mugged for being a showoff.

I've shown it to people at work (known gamers) who have been pretty interested.

I frequently play it on busy London transport and no one has ever batted an eyelid, that I've noticed.

Most simply ignore it and since I like to keep to myself in public, I don't flash it into everybody's faces - I just play on it. One time, though, a non-gaming friend of mine noticed it and she was pretty impressed by its graphical fidelity for a handheld (mind you, I was playing XC2 at the time, so this made it even more surprising).

I don't take it outside with me too often. It's not the weight really but me wondering whether or not I'll find enough time to play it to justify taking it with me. I know, kinda backwards, but that's just how my mind operates.

I usually only bring it with me for long flights or commutes. I've never gotten any comments about it. Then again, 98% of people today are pretty much too attached to their phone/tablet to ever notice anything else. I usually take the JoyCons off and play in tabletop-mode as well, so I guess it pretty much looks as any other tablet to most people.

I can't see myself being able to play tabletop on a bus.

They don't usually have tables to put things on top.

I showed it to a friend of mine who lives quite far from me so until now I was able to show him only handheld games. He liked it but he's not much into gaming so he was not really interested but appreciated it anyway. I also was amazed by Snipperclips, he is not used to console controllers at all but we played this game together and he was able to play it a lot better than other games I made him try previously (for example games like Aria of Sorrow).

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee

I get questions and comments at work. I had it on a flight once and got a few questions and the lady next to me was watching me play.

From a non-Switch owner perspective, I personally have only ever seen two out in the wild where I live, and they both belong to acquaintances. I live in a predominantly rural area, so seeing a handheld gaming anything is a relatively rare occurrence; usually it's just people on their phones and tablets here, and I die a little more inside every time I see a kid playing one of those shoddy-looking free-to-play games on a mobile device. (Note: I'm not saying all games available on mobile are bad, just that I can't believe so many people indulge in the sub-par ones). This feeling unfortunately occurs way more often than the sheer joy I get whenever I see someone (usually a kid) in public rocking a DS or 3DS.

To be fair, I don't get out in public as often as I probably should, and public transportation is borderline non-existent here (other than the senior citizen van). More of my friend circles has a Switch by this point, so maybe something will get set up sooner or later....

As for how I would react, I'd probably be really interested, ask which game it is (if I couldn't see it), ask about the rest of the person's library if the conversation made it that far, and maybe ask what future games they might be looking forward to. Of course, I'm an introvert, so sometimes the conversation depends on the person.

I've only taken it to a relative's place occasionally. Usually no one says anything, though last time one of my aunts said "those handheld games just keep on getting bigger" or something along those lines.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I take the train to work and initially, I was taking my Switch with me practically every day, but I usually found myself just listening to music or dozing off on most occasions (and when the train is busy and I'm forced to stand, then I don't game at all) so I eventually stopped lugging it around with me. Now, I mainly take my 3DS with me, but I may rotate on occasion.

I've never really gotten anybody's attention (at least not to the extent that one approached or inquired about it), but on one occasion, I believe that I may have been playing with my 3DS, though it may have been the Switch, I can't remember exactly, but there were a couple of Turkish guys sitting opposite me (not knowing that I am also Turkish) and they were commenting (in a somewhat derogatory fashion) on how a grown man bought a dedicated device for gaming as opposed to playing on a mobile phone. The other guy told him to not fret about it as I wasn't impeding on anybody.

They then proceeded to play an indiscernible game on their mobiles that required them to wait every 15-30 minutes while their health (or whatever) regenerated.

Okay, my turn.
I oftenly take my Switch outside (usually Malls) with my New 3DS XL sometimes.
I play Switch outside, wherever i want, at Food court, Supermarket, Shops, any place i visited.
I know peoples will keep ignoring me since their eyes can't stop staring at their smartphones or they are have conversation with their friends, ignoring trivial matters. I keep confident to play my Switch while i'm walking in the Mall. Of course, i still pay attention with surrounding while walking by playing video games.

Lately, i got a play mate, a young kid who was oftenly i found near Amazone Game Center at Pakuwon Trade Center Surabaya. He was so excited with some of my Switch games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 1-2-Switch. For 1-2-Switch, i bought that game 2 weeks ago, i played together with little pal in my Game shop. I placed my Switch on the table and the Joy Cons on the chair and we were playing with 3 chairs ( 2 for us, 1 for placing Joy Cons). It was so hilarious to play 1-2-Switch games such as Telephone, Quick Draw, Wizard, Joy Con Rotation, Samurai.

Also, in different case, one of my student has ever asked my what mobile games that i owned. I said i didn't have any mobile games (Even though there was Miitomo inside my smartphone, i lied a bit), instead i said to him if i had a lot of Nintendo games especially Nintendo Switch. He wondered why did i like Nintendo games than mobile games ( I understood his point of view since he was raised with mobile games during his early life, never knew anything about dedicated video games like Nintendo). I explained to him because i was a gamer who play dedicated video games with very great gameplay rather than cheap mobile games. I showed also my collections of Nintendo games (More than 90 Nintendo games altogether) & he was surprised with my collections.
A lot of my students now playing Mobile Legends (Clone of AOV), and i don't like that game at all.

I take both the bus and subway to go to uni and the Switch usually grabs people's attention (they look at it with curiosity). At uni my gamer friends want to play it as soon as they see it (I even got one to buy it) and non gamer friends tend to be amazed when they see Rocket League on it (seriously I get a lot of: "that thing can run Rocket League?! OMG!") and they too want to play it. It's actually one of the greatest consoles ever made in the sense that it basically sells itself due to being able to play console games on the go and easy 2 player with the joy con.

Never take it out, never see it around, whether in the closest city or on public transport. Just people and their phones. And here I thought portability was so much the rage, that these people would be everywhere by now, I guess they're just too cautious.

I’ve seen five or six out in the wild in New Orleans. One was a guy at a coffee shop. We played sniper clips together. When I have mine out and people engage they usually know what it is, ask me if I have Zelda and tell me they want one.
