McGuyver game with a really deep crafting system
Star Trek (could be like Sid Meier's Pirates with different eras available from start). Explore new worlds and kill Klingons etc.

Not based on the period the books take place in, but a reasonable game nonetheless. But I have thought that a TBS would work well.

I feel like it's worth pointing out that pretty much ANY IP can be made into a good game. I mean, just look where gaming came from! Anything can make a good game. It's just a question of if the developers have the creativity, wit, and talent to make it work.
