Topic: What "Hard" Game Did You Find Easy?

Personally, I never had a problem with Earthbound Beginnings/Mother. Even the parts people on the Internet seem to be terrified of (Duncan's Factory/Mt. Itoi) gave me little trouble.

The original Contra. I don't know if I'd call it "easy," but it certainly isn't the meat grinder of a game people like to pretend it is. I've cleared the game while having died only once, and I'm not some hugely talented gamer (have yet to pull off a deathless run, unfortunately). Granted, certain portions of the game, like the Energy Zone, can be infuriating, but I'd say the overall level of difficulty is well below something like the original Metroid.

This. Even my little brother, whose only RPGs before playing EBB have been Pokemon and EarthBound, got through Duncan's Factory with no problem on his first try. Granted, a lot of people make it harder on themselves by not using Crumbs or not knowing they exist.

I've never really had a problem with Mega Man 2 oddly enough. I can breeze through it on hard. Mega Man 3 on the other hand...

I can't recall the entire history but will just include the recent ones. For me it is Bayonetta 1&2, I will not call it easy which it's definately not but the difficulty was just fine for me or maybe we were a match made in heaven . But for others it seems to be super difficult. I guess other people have hard time with the combos and dodging mechanics.

None. I like video games, but I'm not particularly good at them.

Shovel Knight. Barring the endgame on New Game+, it's not really any harder than a MegaMan game (and normal mode is like MegaMan 3 without most of the MM2 redux boss stages, not actually that difficult, just kinda moderate challenge).

According to what's-his-name from the NWC, Super Metroid is apparently difficult? I mean, it's more challenging than the GBA games but really?

Donkey Kong Country Returns. A lot of people say this is a tough platformer, but i've never understood why. The rocket barrel stages weren't easy, but they were not so bad after a few attempts.

Play the temple levels.......oh and try completing the game 100% (except time trial which isn't required to 100% the game.) you'll probably take back what you said about it.

As for me, Rayman. Sure you lose lives and get game overs again and again but its not something that you rage over like Super Meat Boy.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Bloodborne. I found it a lot easier than I was expecting, after everything I'd heard about Dark Souls. Now Dark Souls on the other hand is really serving my ass to me on a silver platter... (Blighttown, never again...)

Yes, I like bears.

I was 8 years old when Donkey Kong Country 2 came out. I still remember the commercial saying "it's even tougher than the original." Besides that level where you play as Squawks and have to race that evil parrot through the throne maze I had little trouble with this game as a child. So yeah, I'll go with DKC 2.

Also, that Squawks level STILL gives me trouble at 28. Whenever I'm speed running that's one of the few levels where I need to be careful.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

Kaze_Memaryu

Shovel Knight (people exaggerate a lot about this game and it's difficulty), Dark Souls 1/2 (take your time, learn the mechanics, dominate the game), Super Smash Bros. Brawl/4 Classic on highest difficulty setting (Exploitable AI: The Game).

DKC: Returns and Tropical Freeze. In my opinion they're the perfect difficulty. Challenging, but definitely not impossible. The 2D Mario games are way more difficult in my opinion.

EOTW

Not the whole game, but the infamous boss battle with Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls. People say that it was their breaking point but I beat them first try. Twice.

VVVVVV, The constant checkpoints make sure you lose absolutely no progress when you die, in comparison to something like Cave Story, with drastically reduced amounts of checkpoints. My record on the game is 18 deaths! (took a while)
Mega Man 1. Unlike in almost all other Mega Man games, this game becomes a lot easier if you stay constantly running, instead of facing off every enemy.

You're talking about the original right? Super Meat Boy is meant to be difficult. Part of Rayman's problems were awkward design, and obscure ways to progress.
As for Rayman Origins and Legends, I found them much easier than what people say. More Legends, as Origins still had levels like the Land of the Livid Dead, where you had to study your mistakes as you die in order to succeed.

To make my list simple, Rhythm games in general. I just don't have any real trouble picking them apart and going straight for the highest difficulty. Everyone I know acts like Expert on GH is impossible, but it doesn't even seem remotely difficult until I start playing the songs designed to make you lose.

A nifty calendar (Updated 9/13/15)
The UGXloggery ... really needs an update.

Rayman Origins for me too. It's actually easy if you just rush through. If you're going for all the Electoons and Tricky Treasure levels it becomes moderately difficult, but it's still not enough to give you that "Oh god, how am I even going to do this?" feeling you get from hard platformers.

The first Rayman game on the other hand...I haven't played it myself, but I've seen videos of it and it looks fiendish.

The original Rayman has an issue of saving your rather hard to get lives, and one hell of a difficulty spike.

I personally found Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels easy. :/
