Topic: What happened to Nickelodeon

This is my question what happened to the good old days when their cartoons had meaning Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Catdog it was all just about great cartoons and fun now I was watching their new cartoons a few days ago and they have dumbed them down completely a stupid show about Monkeys and bananas and Robot and Monster? I just don't understand how they can go backwards are kids these days this mind numbingly dumb I wish Hey Arnold was still on I stay up late all the time just to watch the classic cartoons what is your take on this?

Not to mention Sanjay & Craig... I don't even have anything to say about that show... 0_o

I've noticed they only play their good cartoons at midnight, what happened is that some of the good studios who made nickolodeon cartoons no longer make em or they are now defunct. Take Klasky Csupo, they made Rugrats, All Grown up, Rocket Power, Aggh! Real Monsters and The Wild Thornberrrys, all cartoons I watched everytime they were on tv, I wish they made cartoons these days...

I miss the good old days where I could get home and watch good episodes of Spongebob and good tv shows. And what about cartoon network Ed, Edd, and Eddy; Chowder; Flapjack; Power Puff Girls; Dexter's Laboratory. I really miss the good old days.

Wow, they have shows now that are even dumber than CatDog :/ I didn't even know you could get dumber than that

I actually never thought much of Nick, even back in the 90's. Ren & Stimpy, Real Monsters!, CatDog, and Rocko's Modern Life were way too crass for my tastes. I thought Hey Arnold, Wild Thornberries, Rocket Power, & Doug were boring (although I liked Rugrats).

There are some Nick shows I like, though. Outside of Rugrats, I can tolerate SpongeBob, I enjoyed Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, the short lived Kappa Mikey, and the whole Airbender series (which is the best thing to ever come out of Nick).

@SirFrancisBacon, since when are FlapJack & Chowder part of the "good ol' days"? They aren't even 5 years old, and were the start of CN's crap era -_- (Yes, Edd, Ed, 'N Eddy, Dexter's Lab, & PPG are part of the good ol' days, and predate those other shows you mentioned by a long while)

They found how much money is in lowest common denominator CG shows, licensed properties, and questionable sexual inndendo of vaguely of age girls sell.

@RR529 They were young, but still one of the best T.V. shows that came out of Cartoon Network.

Nickelodeon relys mostly on milking Spongebob, and Fairly Odd Parents (to be quite honest, I didn't like Fairly Odd Parents then either).
What I find Nickelodeon is, is that they constantly try to make you laugh with random, mediocre comedy that attempts to raise an eyebrow. (Those Dan Schneider sit-coms shows are serious victims to this).

Nick is giving their audience what they want. You just need to accept the fact that you're outside their target demo, and your opinion doesn't matter to them. You've got teen nick to tune into you're old favorites, there isn't anything else you can do. So just let the kids enjoy their shows and move on.

Oh don't get me started on the filth that is victorious their is only one TV station that has worse sitcoms and that title goes to Disney Channel! and even SpongeBob episodes use to be amazing and funny now their just reduced to nothing they were always silly now they're just plain stupid but I guess after 10+ years your show is bound to dry up I just wish Rugrats and Hey Arnold were still on oh well the memories will always be there

I don't think FoP went as downhill as Spongebob.In fact,I think FoP is still kind of good.Also,the new TMNT is very well-done.Other than that,Nick has gone down the hole.

I have to disagree completely about your statement regarding TMNT it is terrible the voice acting, animations and the humor it is all so bad I use to like TMNT it was more mature you could say and had a good story now it's just ridiculous and you can tell they've dumbed it down for younger kids.

It's simple, really. Animation is an expensive, time consuming process (even for the basic animation quality most Nickelodeon shows used) while live actions shows are comparatively cheap and can be produced quicker. At the same time, the economics of television has changed in that there's so many options available to their audience that it's getting progressively harder to maintain an audience that would justify green lighting riskier projects.

The old Spongebob episodes were simply fantastic. When I was a kid, they made me die of laughter. The new stuff is all garbage. Kids are obviously getting progressively stupider. What I liked was that, in the past, cartoons used to be funny to kids AND to their parents by inserting subtle jokes that the children wouldn't understand, but the parents would. Now, it seems like nobody cares about making it funny for all age groups. It's just random crap that is supposed to keep children entertained. It's just awful.

nickelodeon went down here it was good in 90s now its trash...

In all fairness, those kids can stay on my lawn if they watch Cartoon Network, or Gravity Falls.

Ugh, I hate this. There were just as many bad shows then as there are now. And same as back then any show with actual effort put into it is snubbed in favor of stupidly simple shows that'll get 10+ seasons of the same boring uninspired writing.
