I assume you didn't play all the levels of Yoshi's Story. Beating Yoshi's Story once is like taking a single character through a fighting game on the easiest difficulty setting and then saying you've completed it. Just seeing the ending one time is to give the younger or inexperienced gamer some satisfaction. Which you're clearly neither. You should not be aiming for such a lowly achievement. How about these challenges which everybody here should be aiming for:
Unlock all levels on the Trial Mode by finding and beating them in Story Mode.
Collect only watermelons - ignore all other fruit (at least until you're in your late twenties - finding the last remaining one or two watermelons in a stage is quite tough)
Aquire the black Yoshi and the White Yoshi
Beat story mode without losing a single Yoshi
Aquire a high score in Trial Mode and keep replaying to beat your previous score for a particular level.
And they originally gave away a CD called Love, Peace & Happiness featuring music from the game when you bought Yoshi's Story on N64, I still have it although I haven't listened to it at all in a very long time.
@Bass X0: I know I should have done all of the levels, but even if I did, I'm not sure if my mind would change about the review.
Well its up to you but I still disagree with you calling the game short when you've only played 1/4 of it. Of course a quarter is going to be considered short if thats all you're going to play. Its like giving up after beating only two worlds of Super Mario Bros. And some of the other levels can be quite challenging. Not very difficult but certainly as challenging as some of the levels in Super Mario Bros. can be.
Give it another go. Play different levels than you did before. Maybe your opinion won't change but at least you'll have seen the extent the game has to offer.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

it's not so much like beating only two worlds of SMB and giving up... it's more like beating SMB3 at the earliest point possible with warps and P-wings at your disposal, where you can skip some of the more challenging levels by warping past them and/or just flying over them. Or by warping through SMB as quickly as possible (1-2 to world 4, 4-2 to world 8 iirc). I remember playing through all of Yoshi's Story in the manner you describe, with getting the melons only, finding the black and white Yoshis, and making sure to unlock every single level in trial mode... and even so, I remember I wasn't a huge fan of the game, though it's been quite a few years since I've played it, to be honest. :3
I remember hearing/reading in a magazine back then that Nintendo's goal for this game (Miyamoto?) was for the player to focus on just beating their own high score... that was why Yoshi's Story wasn't a hit with many gamers. and also, what CD? We never got a CD with our game when my parents bought it for us kids... was that some kind of promotion or something? I would've liked to have had a Yoshi music CD, whether or not it came from a game I didn't personally like very much. :3
