Mario Generations, or maybe you could call it Super Mario Time Hop

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

Year of Bowser during 2015 confirmed.

A Mario All Stars sequel. If it appeared in Mario All Stars it should get a sequel in that graphical style. Mario 1+2+3+World sequels. No need for a lost levels sequel since that was already a direct sequel. I don't care if the sequels are mini games, heck i'd even accept some kind of Sonic Generations like format. I just think it would be awesome to play a new version of all those games. NSMB was awesome at first but it's losing it's lustre. HD remakes of the 3D games would be all right, but i have the original versions and playing new versions without added content is usually not a huge priority for me.

What I'd love is a compilation of the Mario 3D platformers up to Galaxy 2. It's not going to happen, because Nintendo will run into some emulation problem that they won't waste time trying to fix. Or they could port or remake the games, but that would be an even bigger waste of their time. Of course if this weren't going to be an anniversary I wouldn't suggest this.

@ogo79 Don't worry, we're going to give Mario plenty of money for his 30th. Just like we do every year.

When is it ? (I know 1985 but I dunno whether it is the beginning or end of the year) I hope we get something good but I don't expect it.

Maybe another club nintendo coin or some other rubbish. 30% off the VC games for a week.

I already agreed with you I am just confused as to why people are thinking it is.

2015 isn't Mario's 30th anniversary.
The Super Mario Bros. game, yes.
But Mario appeared in no less than 3 games prior to that.

Ummm your a bit late. Next year is Mario's 34th anniversary He was created in 1981 for the game Donkey Kong (although he was known as Jumpman at that time).

Except that Nintendo released a Game Boy Micro for his 20th anniversary in 2005.

And a redundant version of Super Mario All-Stars for his 25th anniversary in 2010.

But wait, Mario's actual 30 anniversary was in 2011? Now that makes a lot of sense. So why didn't Nintendo celebrate it in that year? Sega did right with Sonic Generations for Sonic's 20th anniversary which was also in 2011 .

So yeah, you're both correct. I guess we'll have to wait until 2016 for his 35th anniversary, 2021 for his 40th one and so on.

@SuperMalleo
Notice that the Super Mario All Stars collection says: "25th Anniversary" above "Super Mario Bros."?
And the Fami-edition Micro was also celebrating Super Mario Bros., not Mario himself (look at the packaging it came in).

It's really simple. Adding to what @Tasuki said:
1981 = Donkey Kong - first appearance
1982 = Donkey Kong Jr. - appearance as the villain
1983 = Mario Bros. - birth of the Bros. (hence 2013 being Year of Luigi)
1984 = Pinball - minigame/bonus stage appearance.

And then SMB in 1985.

@the_shpydar Thanks for the info. Nintendo cares more about the anniversary of Super Mario Bros. than Mario's, it seems.

@SuperMalleo: Its probably because that is what more people remember when you say Mario. Before then not to many people paid much attention to Donkey Kong. Super Mario Bros got big due to the fact that it brought the American region out of the Video Game Crash successfully.

Really? I wasn't there, but I thought Donkey Kong was a runaway success. I can't say I have an idea as to whether or not the player character had been iconic, though.

Okay since that's all cleared up, how about we change this thread into "What do you want Nintendo to do for Super Mario Bros. 30th anniversary?

A new 3DS or Gamepad version of that Gameboy Micro would hit the spot.

What would be awesome would be a kinda 3d release of the original super mario bros......remade in glorious hd 3d. Still on rails sorta speak but staying true to the original. I'd love that. Could even have an unlock when you complete the game.....like unlock the nes version.

Mario Maker is good enough for me as long as you don't have to download levels individually. (Sets of 8 or something would be fine). I don't want to spend more time trying to find levels than playing them.
