So in the next year Nintendo will unveil its QOL platform that will last for next 10 years, or so. Right they've been rather Vauge but looking at the past its going to be an extension of the Blue Ocean bussiness plan we saw start on the DS and Wii. I'm imagining Nintendo doing something in the education sector that takes software such as Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Brain Age into something seperate from its regular gaming platforms. The only thing we do know is that it will supposedly be non wearable s for we know it could be Little Mac branded punching bags.

But I fail to see how it can compete with Google and Apple who are introducing new product lines and services this year. Google just announced Android Wear which is being powered by google now similar to Glass does. Even considering that the QOL might not be wearable Google just acquired nest and will probably announce a bigger into home automation compared to the the failed Android@home from a few years back. I also don't think Nintendo has the cool factor or desginers to make an awesome looking product I mean compare the above add to these from Google and Apple, looking at not only the add direction but the product design as well.

Though maybe its a good thing that Nintendo's advertisement's aren't pretentious or are secertly J.Crew ad's.

I'll be brutally honest here.
Nintendo is struggling and under-performing in an industry in which they have years upon years of experience.
I certainly don't expect them to have much success in this new "Quality of Life" business, especially if they are competing with Apple and Google.

I didn't want to but it that bluntly but its pretty true. Nintendo can abrley compete with Sony and Microsoft on the console front. I can't imagine how Nintendo expects to compete in market that necessitates at this point you be in or attached to an actual ecosystem.

As far as what I think their QOL platform will be, I have no idea. Little Mac punching bags sound just as likely as anything else I can think of. Looking at those confusing flow charts and diagrams doesn't help.

The emphasis on "non-wearable" is very strange and seems like the opposite of what consumers want (google glass, etc.). If it's some sort of stationary health monitoring device, what is it going to offer that a mobile app or computer software couldn't? Unless Nintendo has access to some sort of secret biological technology, which I doubt. Since they've said QoL will be separate to their video game business, I can't see it being a device to play Wii Sports/Wii Fit. If it isn't a physical device, what else could it be?

@Gioku - Depending on how Nintendo defines the word "wearable", a brain implant could be the best guess so far.

I honestly don't what the QOL platform will be and how successfull it'll be. However, I did notice Nintendo was kinda confidence about this whole 'QOL' situation during the meeting so maybe it'll be a good and revolutionary product that can compete against Google and Apple (doubt it tho)

I wonder if this is the 'QOL' platform or just the licensing of their ip. Maybe both?

Nintendo's big first step is to lure people in with health.
And just in the past 24 hours, I've been hearing articles about Samsung, Google and Apple all trying to target health. Samsung's new phone has a heart rate sensor, Apple's Fitness Tracking software was leaked, and now the Android Wear.
Plus just today, I read another article about wearable technology that scans your unique heartbeat, and uses it as your security. Like a fingerprint scanner, but safer. http://www.getnymi.com/
I think Nintendo has the prowess to impress and compete, but their marketing department needs to step up their game with these guys, because the 3 try hard for all their phones, watches and OS to be household names.
