Thank you to everyone in this thread for reminding me to register my purchases. Thanks to you I went from a balance of 0 to 370.

I had tried to register them back in December, but I kept getting error messages on the site. No idea why; it worked fine this time. Now if only I could link up my DSi I'd really be rolling in dough.

I've got tons of games and systems on there, but I haven't done one single thing to get the points. Just lazy I guess.

Agreed. I'd gladly trade in my coins for points.

I took down the white wiimote carrying case. I know....I know it sounds lame but it actually holds four wiimotes and clears up a lot of space on the entertainment center. I am also not a DS owner. Plus i thought i read something about coins expiring every june or july of each calender year, so i went for the case. It actually looks good...

The coins don't expire, just the Gold & Platinum member status.

The coins do in fact expire, but it's two Nintendo Club years (July 1st to June 30th iirc) after they enter your account. for example, if you registered a DS game in March of this year, the coins you received for registering it would not expire until June 30th of 2011.

Now that I'm a Platinum member...I've been wondering what the hell that means. Do we get something extra for being Gold or Platinum? If so, anyone know what?

(a) yes, we do get a 'special prize' if we reach gold/platinum status for the Club Nintendo year
(b) they will announce whatever they're going to give us sometime in June or July (i forget exactly when, but it's around when the CN year ends/begins), and then they'll send it out to eligible members sometime in the latter portion of the calendar year. Club Nintendo of Japan has gotten some pretty awesome stuff in past years, so here's hoping we get some cool stuff too this year. :3

Right now, I have 670 coins. I just got Rhythm Heaven, so I'll have 700 coins once I register it. If I don't get enough coins to get the Game & Watch collection by late June, I'll go with the Mario stylus set. When are they going to add new rewards?

It would be cool If you could use coins to get download tickets for WiiWare games and exclusive channels too.

Anyway, it does for me, to a point. What really happens is that I buy a game a little sooner than I might to cash in on the "Intend to Buy" coin bonus. Those bonuses add up over time, and for some odd reason, they gave me a DOUBLE bonus on NPC:DKJB!

Thus far, I've only ordered the hanafuda cards, but feel that I probably shouldn't have. They just sit in my room now. I don't really understand the game instructions they came with, so I haven't even played anything with them yet.

I currently have another 690 Coins stockpiled, which I don't plan to spend until they actually put something new up to order! I wish they'd give us Tingle's Balloon Fight DS just so I could have it in English, but I know THAT won't happen. Something along those lines would interest me more than anything else available now, though, for sure!

What kind of awesome stuff have they had? I've heard of some pretty awesome stuff available on their Club Nintendo store, but I don't know if I've heard anything about their Platinum bonuses before. Also, do you know if getting the Platinum bonus might result in missing out on a totally different gift for Gold level, or do we get both?

I really hope they bring over Exclamation Warriors. Also, is it to late to "intend to buy" DK:JB NPC? Cuz I was looking at getting that soon...

well, for example, the 2005 platinum-level gift for Club Nintendo Japan was the Wiimote TV remote control (it's seriously a Wiimote for your TV, i'd take that in a heartbeat lol), and the 2006 platinum-level gift was either Tingle's Balloon fight for DS or a Wiimote battery cover etched with your personal Mii of choice. 2007 was (is still) the year to beat, though, with either the Super Famicom Classic Controller or the 2-disc Super Mario Galaxy OST as platinum prizes (or i guess you could choose the calendar as a platinum member, but why the hell would you want to???). here's last year's Club Nintendo Japan rewards, click the tabs at the top to switch between platinum and gold prizes. looks like platinum members get to choose one of the three items, and the gold prize is the lamest of the three (but still nifty).

personally, i'd just like to have some of this stuff [read: the controller and the Mario Galaxy OST] available eventually to purchase via Coins... i would way rather pay 800 coins for the controller than the hanafuda cards or the Game and Watch DS compilation that's up there at the moment.

I don't think new rewards will come until July 1st. That's when the new year starts, and points are reset.

Points won't be reset until the next new year. So July 1st 2010.

Nice choice. I got the same and I love it. I put all the DS games I'm playing off and on and I had lost all my styluses so its probably the only useful thing available as of now.
