^In the original Japanese, it was always 8000. The "9000" was mistranslation when the series was first dubbed into English. The DBZ Kai re-dubbing of the series brings it more true to the original Japanese version. for shame, Otaku, you should know something like that, what with your uber-love for Japan!

You must want the crescendo. You must have the will to do the crescendo."
"Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have the children's approach to life. They're people who don't give a hang what the Joneses do. You see them at Disneyland every time you go there. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures, and they have a degree of contentment with what life has brought - sometimes it isn't much, either."
"I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you... Stranger!"
-The Joker
I could use about 90% of The Joker's dialogue in The Dark Knight here. As for the quote, in my life experience, Joker got it right, and Nietzsche is an idiot. On the subject, I saw this gem at a message board once...
"Nietzsche is dead."
-God
In closing, "never start with the head, the victim gets all fuzzy."

That kind of reminded me of this quote by C.S. Lewis -
“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”

Agreed, Joker's dialog is great! I personally love this set of lines:
"You wanna see a magic trick?" [Stands pencil on table, then slams mobster's face into pencil] "TADA!!! Its... its gone..."
To be fair, Bane's dialog in the new one is also pretty great. This line is great in my opinion:
"Oh, you think darkness is your ally. You merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING! [grabs Batman from the shadows and continues to beat him] The shadows betray you, they belong to me! "

Anyone who has declared someone else to be an idiot, a bad apple, is annoyed when it turns out in the end that he isn't.

Dang. I set that up perfectly, didn't I? If only I'd said "moron" instead, LOL (this is what I get for trying to emulate Dr. Gregory House ). I'm not so familiar with him, as he lost me at "God is dead." I think I detest "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" because it's too much in line with the modern "make lemonade out of lemons" (my answer, "what if the lemons are rotten, as they often are"). At least it made a cool and fitting quote for the opening of Conan the Barbarian!
@Ecto-1
I started to mention the magic trick last night, LOL. I also love his dialogue with Batman at the police station, and perfect manipulation of Harvey Dent in the hospital! Such a wealth of great (some very true) quotes. I'd be interested to see what spot Ledger's Joker would have on a devoted "greatest movie villains" list. After Ledger, I'd put him at #1. Can't forget JACK'S Joker with his own great quotes, like "The pen is truly mightier than the sword", which is fitting here. Probably won't get to see Rises here until it's in second run. Glad Hardy's Bane erases the travesty that was Batman & Robin Bane!

Regarding the "God is Dead" quote, there's a common misunderstanding there. Nietzsche never actually said that himself, rather it was said by a character in The Gay Science and appears again in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. What a character says =/= the author making that statement himself. While Nietzsche did have a dislike for organized religion (to put it mildly) it always irks me to see people mistakenly attribute that quote to him directly.
