All I've been listening to for the past few weeks is the 1989 classic 'The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses' which released just before I become a teenager and paved the way for the deluge of quality British bands and one hit wonders that made the 90's such an amazing decade to grow up in. Just like a fine wine or Beatles album, it only gets better with age and is in my opinion, the finest album ever recorded. Every track is an absolute belter but my favourite has to be (Song for my) Sugar Spun Sister, never fails to make me feel good.
@OorWullie - Man, nostalgia overload. Great band, and I really enjoyed what you wrote about them. Hard to believe itβs been a decade since that 20th anniversary album! Iβm going to listen to it for the next two weeks.

I'm probably only a couple of years younger, but I just don't get the whole 'Stone Roses are the GOAT' thing.
I couldn't knowingly name or sing or hum a single Stone Roses song, despite being reasonably familiar with UK 80s and 90s music. That album has some holy status, but they can't have ever had much presence in the singles charts because surely I'd have developed at least some basic familiarity with at least one of their songs by now. What is their most widely recognised song?
I've tried to listen to that album before on the assumption that I'd recognise something, but it does nothing for me.
